It's okay. Rome is beautiful but the RPG elements hurt the game IMO.

Finished the main game and first expansion with almost 100% as well as some parts of the second expansion.
Very grindy, but I enjoyed it still
Origins is better than this one

great game but cant really replay

most overhated AC game imo
while it's not a typical assassin's creed game, i still found it super fun and entertaining. i can definitely understand how some people dislike this game, as compared to a game like AC2, it feels completely different and there was much more emphasis on the rpg element
my only complaint for this game is the time it takes to beat, especially if you're going for 100% completion; i probably have 110+ hours on my save
still though, i found the story, setting, and gameplay all very good

Pretty much anything post Syndicate for AC is complete trash. Like seriously the money used to buy this game is literally better off used as toilet paper. Same goes for origins. Complete and utter gutter trash. If you value your life and time I would avoid ubisoft titles in general but especially post 2015.

I spent so much time on this game and I don't even know why it's one of the worst games I've ever played

I don't mean to be that guy like I was with Black Flag, but Assassin's Creed Odyssey was not made for the AC series. It's a great game on its own, but I think the only way it actually ties into Assassin's Creed is through the Isu blood/goddess blood shit that HARDLY makes any sense to begin with, as well as basically being the start for the Order of the Ancients which eventually become Templars which eventually become Abstergo. In this game they're cultists who worship a tiny pyramid that gives them glimpses of the future that they think comes from some kind of god. But besides that, most of the actual main story is basically reuniting your family, and it's quite frankly kind of boring up until you finally meet the main character's Mom. That's besides the point, though. I really don't understand why they tried to pass this as an AC game when it could've just been its own IP. It doesn't really explain much for the actual story besides something that they might try to tie in with Valhalla, but it's honestly just a low point for the series in terms of story. However, combat, exploration, side content, and world building are handled greatly. I kinda don't like how they treat some of the historical figures of this game. I don't think anybody historically has really gotten much respect out of these games since AC4 with Black Beard and Mary Read. They all get treated like comedic relief in a way and it's just kinda weird to see. Let me talk about combat real quick, though, because despite me saying it's great, it's also kinda just gross how many hits an enemy will take before dying. It's better if you spec into a bow build like I did where you can just headshot most enemies from a bush most of the time. That, to me, is fun. I love doing that. Especially since these games were originally made with stealth in mind, it's nice to have that back. It's just done in such a forceful way. The exploration is also great just for the fact that there's a lot to explore, and it's all detailed very beautifully. My only complaint there is that there are too many army camps and not other unique locations, so you basically still get the same issue I had with Origins where there's just too little stuff in between all the big stuff. Side content and world building kinda go hand in hand because so many things can be different based on your approach to something. Often times I'd be stuck between 2 people who each want me to do a different thing with the target I'm going after, and I just fucking love ignoring them both and killing the target right away, then coming back to find they're both pissed at me, but also happy the target is gone. There's also so many other super major events that really make the world feel huge and mystical like how we all think of ancient Greece, but it's all the Isu's doing because they gotta tie it back somehow. There were so many things I loved, a few things I hated, things that genuinely shocked me, and overall I feel like this game is judged too harshly for making the same point that I made: That it's not Assassin's Creed. Put that aside and it's still an amazing game overall.
Edit: I'm putting this in way later because I forgot about the modern storyline. A-whoopsies. Yea, nah, I hope that really highlights how forgettable it is because the few time you're outside the Animus there is nothing of substance to do, see, or discover. The only thing I can say, is that Layla isn't as insufferable as she was in Origins.

Got this for free from the Stadia beta.

It's pretty fun, not too much to say about it.

I finished the Greek storyline, might go back to finish the future stuff storyline at some point.

pretty addicting, one of the best ACRPGs to date

Look very good but the plot was really meh not really grabbing my attention and while it does have beautiful vistas the interesting places are separated by copy pasted forests that made the exploration very boring

Really isn't worth playing, the story is underwhelming and the multiple choice options in dialogue take away from the experience when it doesn't really change anything, this game would have been so much more fun if it wasn't marketed as a AC game cause it's not an AC game same with Valhalla. Fun-ish games in their own right but unfortunately with comparison to games in the franchise do not match anything. at least the cities are pretty and its a decently fun RPG

the ultimate slop game. if you just want to do and not think for 50+ hours (for completion) this is perfection.

doesn't mean it's good

I don't really get the hate for this game. Sure, it doesn't feel like an Assassin's Creed, but that isn't really what it's going for. The Fate of Atlantis DLC was one of the better DLC's I've played in a really long time.

Beautiful overworld and good combat and all but it's so repetitive.

Mid playthrough notes:
Gameplay loop is fun
Crashes frequently on Ps4 (wtf)
Dialogue writers should be fired, chatgpt would write better dialogue.
Transmog is cool but artificially bloated.
The cult mechanic is poorly implemented.
Romance really doesn't make sense and feels out of place, plus it's just fade to black, witcher 1 did it better, honestly.

That mediocre gaming experience with that awesome ancient Greek map

This is not assassins creed, this is a watered down yet bloated rpg that is the most generic garbage ive had the displeasure of playing.

Bom jogo, boa narrativa porem cansativa ao longo do game

Odyssey takes us all the way back to the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta. We play as either Alexios or Kassandra, a mercenary who finds themselves chasing down the Cult of Kosmos, a sinister organization trying to control the fate of Greece. Much of Origins has been recreated here; much like its predecessor Odyssey is an action-RPG with a truly vast open world, although because this is Greece naturally sailing makes a truimphant return and it's just as much fun as it was in Black Flag. Just trying to follow the story is a challenge in and of itself; you're expected to take the time to explore and power up both your character and your ship in order to take on the rising challenges, but thankfully doing so is an absolute joy. Odyssey is also more overt in its strange sci-fantasy precursor elements than any other entry in the franchise, and its done to absolutely magnificant effect, particularly as the story brings itself to a close and things get really wild. A brilliant action RPG!

Bom jogo.

Probably my favorite AC game to date. The setting is great, and the core gameplay loop is addicting. Ship combat feels good, and the bounty system is a nice added bonus as well.

The worst Assassin's Creed game to date. Complete destroys the already damaged lore of the series. Forgettable characters, watered down story, dead open world. It's nice that they recreated Ancient Greece but put some life into it at least.

what a beautiful open world just for the rest of the game to be an antiquated piece of shit
