A beautiful oasis, scorching desert, and hungry hungry hippos create the backdrop of one of the best Assassin's Creed stories since Assassin's Creed II. Bayek of Siwa is a deep character of tragedy whose adventures, triumphs, and failures tug at the heartstrings. Though the game suffers from being slightly too big and bloated, as well as a leveling system that pads the game's length more than it needs to be, the story and gameplay of Origins makes for a memorable experience. "Papa, JUMP!"
I absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend this. I don't know what sucked me in, but few games compel me to 100% with the enthusiasm this game does. This is a great game to mindlessly play and check icons off of the map after a time. The main character is interesting, some of the side quests are great, and the combat is better than I thought it would be. Can't wait to play Odyssey.
Very good game, probably the last one who still feels like classic Assassin's Creed, which isn't necessarily a good or a bad thing, it just is.
Bayek is a likeable protagonist, along with Aya. Their story is tragic and sad (though I wish it were even sadder and more emotional, considering the events that cause them to seek revenge across Egypt) and well written; once again the writers successfully insert various historical figures amidst original characters throughout the narrative in a way that makes sense for the plot. The main cast all gave great performances, however Abubakar Salim, who voices Bayek, did an exceptionally good job.
The graphics hold up well, in my opinion. The world is very beautiful and detailed; having never been Egypt, it was truly breathtaking and extremely fun to explore the different cities, and even the deserts.
Main missions are pretty good, I didn't really feel like they were repetitive as much as in other games, and in general you can go about them any way you want. Same goes for the side missions, that were actually interesting and each had its own original storyline and characters. Can't say the same for some of the other content on the map, like the hideouts/camps.
Gameplay is solid. There's a big variety of weapons (perhaps too big even), and the bows are a very nice addition, along with the improved hunting feature. They adopted a skill tree mechanic in this game (to make it more RPG like?), which is fine, it works, I just don't think it adds too much to the game in general.
Aya's sequences with the naval combat are very fun, and I wish we got more of it, both in this game and just in general! A Black Flag remake or just a new IP with pirates/that features ships is more than overdue (I'm ignoring the existence of Skull&Bones lol).
Also, the present day sequences are short, thank god, so that's a plus.

after 35 hours i finished this game and i was almost about to give it a 3 star but i remembered it has too many problems. Like story isnt really interesting. Enemies level system is not enjoyable. Good things are the combat is not bad, Graphics holds up really well and egypt is stunning if you look from some specific angles. I Was about to give 3 star as i said but i checked my other 3 star ratings and understand this game isnt at the same enjoyment level. The story and leveling system aside the main thing i really didnt like is Game just trying to waste your time with side missions. And i you have to complete them to level up. As i write this review im thinking why did i play 40 hours if the game isnt that enjoyable? Probably cause i played this with 0 expectations. Like i wasnt even reading the side mission stories (most of the time) i was playing as a non serius mindset and kinda liked the combat so thats what made me play this game this many hours. If you like the story and you dont mind running a lot with your horse, you will probably like this game.
I'm not a big Assassin's Creed guy, I wouldn't say that I hate them but I in no way love them. I see potential, being able to play in a variety of different places throughout history is a pretty cool idea. Origins has the setting of ancient Egypt that I feel isn't explored all too often in games. However, everything besides the setting that makes up this game is so bland and mediocre that I can't be bothered to finish this.
Origins gives you the classic Ubisoft open-world experience. Exploration and discovery, who needs that when anything and everything remotely interesting has a big icon to meander towards. Towers, I love towers! My favorite part of towers is that when they reveal more of the map they then cover it again with more icons. Time to go to one of the several thousand map markers to find a bargain bin Witcher 3 sidequest and get rewarded the same sword I have but the number is bigger and the icon is purple. Riveting stuff...
Origin's isn't a bad game, but a mediocre one; which is arguably worse. If it was bad, I could laugh at it. I wasn't crazy about the old style assassin's creed games but I feel this new style just sucks. It feels like the budget version of better games, so why waste my time with this when I can just play those games instead.
