In my opinion, very good open world, i really like that you have to find shops and you have to know the city, to understand what messages telling you about location of this shops. Also one of the greatest car perfomance tuning system with personal tune up for every type of the race and etc., it's just amazing. Good handling, good tuning and customization, good open world, but game is way too long and this moment when you have 3-4 URL (United Racing League or what it was), ugh... Also, forcing player to do visual upgrades for car if player don't want it - isn't good.
Need for Speed Underground 2 holds up very well as a fun arcade racing game, with lots of content and customization. The open world incentivizes you to explore it, featuring hidden races and shops that unlock parts as you find more of them. The game can get tedious near the end, as the requirements for completing each stage of the game greatly increases. The level of car customization is unmatched even to this day.
Very much worth playing if you haven't before, and always worth revisiting.

A better game than the first in basically every aspect. Bayview’s a great open world and the level of customisation is almost unmatched even today, though I wish the career was a bit less repetitive and there was a greater sense of speed. Still, this one’s great, and apparently good enough to be fondly remembered even by those who don’t really like racing games much.
I played this with an infinite money mod cuz the economy is broken and a mod to unlock all custom parts once I got to stage 5 cuz I didn't want to do outrun. The experience overall was great. The world, while small, is really well designed and challenging to drive on (which is good cuz it's fun). The selection of cars is really good for the time, the soundtrack is good, the physics are fun, and customizing cars is a joy
If you were to ask me why I played the second part of this game first, and then the first part, I wouldn't be able to tell you. The first, the second part of the game and Most Wanted 2005 are the games in the Need for Speed series that taught me to love cars and later in my life I could never play any other game that opposes this one like Forza Horizon or Assetto Corsa.
One of the best racing games of all time and one of my favorite racing games of all time. I quite love this one, it was one of my childhood games and over the years I went back to try to beat it and have gotten far, abandoning it due to lost in interest in 2014 after getting quite far and then droping it early around..2020 or 2021, finally in 2022 I decided what the hell and went for it and man I love so much about this game, the style, car selection, visual look, whole early 2000s import tuner scene underground street racing vibe, mmmm delicious. I also love how detailed the customization is, not many games including NFS itself matched this for me, only one I see to go further is Midnight Club 3.
Also used mods to unlock both NTSC and PAL cars on the same file and other definitive mods
Over the years I had tried and abandoned many other racing games, I think part of me always knew that Underground 2 was unreplacable for me and I just couldnt bring myself to care for a racing game that much if I didn't see UG2 through first, cuz every game would be compared to UG2 in my mind and disapoint me in some way, that's not to say they're bad at all but as you can see I was quite obsessed with it in a way and refused to let it go unless I finally beat it to satisfy my obsession, only game that was an exception to this was Most Wanted, another childhood game that I finally saw through in 2019.
Also Skyline is a fucking beast! Woooo! And lmao Caleb, what a final race that was...
