This shit reeks of Banjo-Kazooie. It doesn't have much more than that other than being just a few minutes long. I dig it but it has no other identity than feeling like it wants to be a Banjo-Kazooie game.

I feel bad for the guy that eventually has to spill the beans to Kiwi about the fact that he isn't a Bear and that there is no Bird in his backpack.

Can't wait for Super Kiwi 64 this December.

As silly as some of these games may be, it's still fun to see Google make some once in a while. When playing these kinds of games, it takes me back in time, to when web games/ flash games were a big thing in my life.

There isn't much to be said about this game, so instead, I want to recommend a different game made by Google. Doodle Champion Island Games (2021) came out last summer and was an incredibly cute and fun little web game. Give that a try instead!

This is the kind of shit Jesse Pinkman would unironcally listen to.

And I’d deeply respect him for that

I know that it might be part of the aesthetic but come on, couldn't instant-kill pits and spikes have been left in the old-school retro era? It ruins an otherwise amazing and beautiful-looking platformer.

2022

Thanks to the Toree franchise and all its games I've started follow Siactro and all its games. I love the fact that most of the games they make are short & sweet and can be completed in one sitting. It's all just easily digestible and enjoyable at the same time. These types of one-shot games feel healthy once in a while even if I wish it was a bit longer.

It doesn't hurt either that everything is super cute, except for that one level in Beeny or that one level in Toree that makes you shit your pants. Yeah, and when you least expect it you get jump scared, but it's pretty hilarious ngl.

Not that I know much about speedrunning but I could see it having a lot of that potential if it had the chance to find the player base.

I'm really excited to keep following the developer Siactro into its next game: Super Kiwi 64 (Dec 2022). There was a nice playable teaser for it at the end of the game which was a nice touch.

As clunky as the gameplay may be, at least it delivers on what it sets out to be: being a fantastic fanservice game. Even if it isn't canon, many of the interactions between characters from different parts are still priceless.

The campaign should've ended at like chapter 9 but then all progress in the story was reset and the rest unfortunately felt filler af. Nothing that JJBA is known for. (0% filler)

I guess that because Jotaro is the most known Jojo character he kinda automatically was chosen to be the main protagonist, which I myself find a bit boring. The epilogue was interesting though and I like how it plays around with time (much like how every Jojo-part is heavily influenced by time/fate/gravity).

Q: Should a Jojo fan play this?
A: Most definitely!

Q: Should a non-Jojo fan play this?
A: Most definitely not.

The game tries to be so many things at once that it loses track of the main theme and in the process fucks up the whole experience. It wants you to run through the level as fast as possible, but also collect all these fucking coins which is impossible to do at the same time if you want to be rewarded for being fast. If you want to collect everything then fuck you too because every time you lose a life, ALL collectibles are reset unless you come to a checkpoint that is far too few and far away from one another.

Oh, are you speedrunning through this level? Well now we want you to read what this stupid frog says at the same time, and he doesn't ever shut up. Gl m8

There's little sense of depth in the environment so platforming is easily misjudged. The 'Frogun' grappling hook from which this game got its name from, never felt good to use, I also kinda hate how you only get one shot at using it, and if you miss, it'll most likely end up with you in demise, aaand back at one of those stupidly sparsely put checkpoints to recollect all of those mf collectibles. Nothing is particularly fleshed out and it feels more like a beta version of what could've been a great and light-hearted platforming experience.

Noah Copeland singlehandedly remakes one of the best if not the best 2D Sonic game you can experience. He's not only bringing justice to the overshadowed and sometimes forgotten 2D Sonic game Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble (1994) but also bringing it into the spotlight it deserved but never got (until now). Sega's lucky to have such a passionate fanbase. If Sega ain't gon do it, the fans will.

Everything I wrote in the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles (1994) review can be applied here except for the music which unfortunately isn't as jammy as CD or the Genesis titles. Music is incredibly important but in terms of platforming, it's the crème de la crème of the genre, and what ultimately makes this a masterpiece.

Don't miss this, it's downloadable for free.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles (1994) is through and through the most solid and consistent of all the classic Genesis titles. It's not only peak Sonic but peak platforming. For being the longest of the classic Sonic games, it still manages to have the most diverse and fleshed-out level design, gimmicks, and story*.

As someone whose favorite genre is platforming, I still find it hard to really compare it to any other 2d platformer. Sonic was in his own league back in the day and became a household name for a good reason.

THE FUCKING MUSIC! Incredible like every other Sonic game I've played. I refuse to believe there's a Sonic game without jammer slammers.

All in all, this is probably one of the most enjoyable games I've ever played.

As this is the beginning of my journey through the Sonic library I cannot compare it to much else, what I can say is though that I'm very excited to see what it has in store (especially 3D Sonic). I grew up watching Sonic X, so even though I never played the games (up until now), Sonic is still dear to me. Also, the Jetix Sonic X European intro is so much better than the North American one. If you do not agree, you are objectively wrong.

The amount of negative criticism towards Forces really lowered my expectations, and because of that, I got surprised about how much I actually enjoyed the game.

Yeah, objectively speaking it's rough as a rock, but despite that, it was a fun experience, and you kinda learn how to exploit the roughness to your advantage or how to avoid it.

The story is just incomprehensible and uninteresting.

Also, the gamer cap is sick drip, want that irl ngl 🥶

There’s nothing about this game that’s in any way appealing. This is gonna sound stupid, but since it’s an Atlus game, I wanted to give it a shot. It’s so uninspiring and the story stands still for way too long. During my first 10h, I was still in the first location. Animations suck. It runs and looks awful. Not maybe because it’s its own fault, that’s more because of Nintendos underpowered system. The game has no charm if compared to the more lighthearted Persona spin-off. It just takes itself too seriously and makes itself boring in the process. I’m most likely done with this game.

Sonic Mania (2017) is basically a spiced up remix of the classic Sonic the Hedgehog games. Artistically bold with beautiful sprite art that is wonderfully accompanied by one of the jammiest OSTs out there. Some aspects from the series it’s based on still remain such as instant deaths and unexpected taken damage and traps.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a tight platformer for those that are more accustomed to precise platforming. At times I just wanted to run as fast as possible but the number of obstacles and enemies make it very hard to react without taking damage. What I find sad is that once you die, you die and will have to redo everything. I guess this is reasonable since it gave some replayability back in the day. Nowadays it feels cheap and it's just annoying.

It has some pretty good jammers as well.

Kojima has dug himself a rabbit hole, one I'm afraid he will not be able to escape. This story is highly ambitious and requires the player to endure every moment of this ~40h journey to even get a hunch of what the hell is going on. How on earth will he be able to make a game with a different story when this is what people have come to expect of him? He has to commit to Death Stranding. There is no other way. That's why I think that Death Stranding is Hideo Kojima's life project going forward.

Game of the year contender right here!

The gameplay feels smooth and has enough complexity to feel satisfying rather than overwhelming. If you find this game hard, then let me tell you that everything lies in the dodge button. You will be punished a lot for not using dodge. It functions about the same as the 'Smoke Bomb' ability in Cuphead where you dash and get invincible as long as the dash lasts. This is key since there's a lot going on in the game and using it will make your experience much better.

As someone who's a sucker for great OSTs, I jammed a lot to these tracks. Not a bad apple in the entire fruit basket. Funky and experimental is just how I like them and that's what they are.

Beat-em'-ups are underrepresented in the mainstream sphere, so to see a generally well-known franchise like TMNT being a beat-em-up in a beautiful pixel-graphic art style makes me cry. This is as much of a game as it is an art piece. It's visually bold, flamboyant, and vibrant in design and animation alike. Go play this game now.

COWABUNGA!
