Watched a playthrough of The Subspace Emissary on youtube ages ago. Had fun seeing all the characters together and it was pretty hype to see Sonic come up in the end.

This review contains spoilers

+ Music was outstanding
+ Route B was very good
+ The ending of Route C & D were good
+ Route E was great (the ending section of this route was probably the peak of the game)
+ Made me tear up and got me emotional a couple of times which was unexpected

- 1st half of Route A got pretty boring with the story structure being so repetitive and with the story feeling like a series of fetch quests (which can be said of the whole game really)
- Route C was frustrating with them forcing you to play the entire 2nd half again for very little new content
- The beginning of Route E was frustrating as well as it was almost 1.5 hours spent redoing everything with no new content
- Characters could have been given more depth (especially MC & his sister)

My first Metroid game (I'm not really a big fan of 2D side-scrollers in general)

+ Great game design
+ Fun gameplay

- Music was pretty lackluster and I expected more

(Didn't complete the Final Note and watched a playthrough instead as the it was too much of a hassle and designed to be infuriatingly difficult on purpose)

+ Music is excellent
+ Zero & Mikhail's relationship is nice
+ The start/Chapter 0 was done well and made me pretty excited for the game
+ The final verse of each route is good
+ The final boss fight is pretty cool

- The presentation & production values are mostly average in the main game and poor in the dlc
- The repetitive/reused stages became boring very quickly
- Almost every aspect of the game barring the music (i.e story, characterization, route length etc) felt undercooked and could have been done much better
- The final boss fight is pretty damn annoying

Peak pokemon game. It could only go downhill from here.
