technically you got two games as options, you got a hunting trip point and click and you got the hootenanny (block party) point and click

these have neat interactions and nobody is necessarily jarring unless maybe the low frames weird you out, neat that you can click around the hill residence and uhhh........ thats about it really! theres some shitty minigames, but really i stumbled on this abandonware by complete chance nobody even really pointed this out to me i was just itching to see what shows had games that may've flown to the gutter that people were just Not talking about
And realistically i understand why this one doesnt come up in conversation
its got physical copies that are expensive asf because of the novelty of it existing At All
and there's like half an hour's worth of gameplay here, maybe a bit more depending on how hard you lock-in with those minigames

there's a LOT going on with this game and it flings you into it all with just basic understanding of it's mechanics even with the tutorial mode i feel it doesn TRULY capture the ranges that it goes. You play as one of WHOEVER survivors after some nuclear fuckshit happens and manage and harvest plants and get evaluated for it at the end of each set of days thatre bracketed by the four seasons
and these stretches adapt each Year if you will

you get things that can help you outside of the action like perks through passives you can choose to grab for each successful run, often starting off small and snowballing more and more till you can get over the hump a bit easier
yk standard fare with these types of games
what REALLY surprised me is how much shit is often goin on, to the point where even though there's a pause button in this game.. i didnt wanna stop! crack doesn capture the feeling of the screen being flooded with enemies all the while seamlessly multitasking laying seeds down, tilling soil and watering the plants and harvesting them all at the same time

and when you start a new day its like youre usually gonna up n think about what youre gonna do next yk!!!
like "damn i need to go raid those bases up top, i need to check n build that bridge, i need to whack all them fucking weeds and pray there's some animals out here" at First, this is all relatively chill
but it steadily gives you a meaty asf challenge to the point where i was genuinely startin to just save my beet hearts up
rng seems to really fucking hate my ass though cause i can almost never get pickaxes when i really need them for some shit </3

So yeah its up on pretty much everything, im probably gonna keep playing it even more even though im already pretty satisfied just because i think this fusion of farming tower defense and roguelike shit is genuinely one of the best things ever

lets take it from the top, this is like a restaraunt bistro rpg where you take customers orders, get them to tables, clean the plates, take out the garbage and etc etc with all the strings attached that comes from hectic food industry type games requiring you to go quick and such

This immediately had me HOOKED because I like to think im decent at these, though it took me a few more tries than id like to admit to see everything the game had to offer.. there's an equipment buff system in this game you can get with your accumulated money and it stacks between new runs too but im gonna be real i dont think you really need to get All of these things to really Get Dead Plate like.. you could be fine shootin for the tip jar or roller skates for a bit and then usin the match sticks when you feel like youll be in a tight spot aha aha.. ohoho! aha.. yea. but you dont need to do all that bullshit
I like the thought behind them! but really the game is not that difficult where you need to buff yourself like that

The ACTUAL flaws with this game lay from how sometimes the tiles where you can pick up plates from or interact arent entirely clear at first, i think this is partially due to your main character not really having a backsprite so oftentimes deducing your direction is a game of mashing which is really funny until you miss one plate, the trash is full and its AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL fucked

Its chill though, i think the story itself is also.. FINE.. like i think this game actually does have some things to say about love and an interesting take on love in consumption and love in actual passion in both the coldest and warmest detriment to people..

It's just also this game fuckin hits you with a bus of information by the end whereas before the hints that some shit is up aint even encompass everything LMFAO like oh my god especially for Ending 3
there's so much dialogue in that it may as well be the "canon" ending especially for what comes at the end

it's a very Specific kinda game! so i dont think itll be for everyone but I liked it enough to tell you the premise was cool and it aint rly feel like a waste of time, definitely couldve been giving you More story moments
but its a shortgame that encourages visual novel esque replays i mean EHHHHHHHHHHHHH it already says everything it needs to say in each of the endings so i think it does a fine job

I guess if i had a nitpick its the tile detection with some things, some abilities feelin kinda just Whatever and the fact tht pretty much all the clientelle you get is predictable in subsequent playthroughs.. it never really feels it gets that much harder if you want higher challenge
but this already is cool enough to me that some diner-dash typa shit can exist in rpgmaker
it's just dont come here lookin for TOP of the line gameplay in that genre since this is an rpg with story beats and not really a purely arcadey thing pftftft

I love this game's art style! I heard somebody actually compare it to invader zim and at the time I didn't really See any jhonen vasquez in this game but as I got a little further n thought a bit more about it... it totally does have that influence and i think that helped me piece together why i like it so much
THOUGH i think the art direction isnt TOOOOOTALLY paying homage to Jhonen and that the dev managed to give it its own identity going on
but I can absolutely imagine Seve with Richard Horvitz' voice.. but for Alexis im not sure if i imagine moreof a Mabel Gravity Falls voice or a more jovial Mandy from Billy And Mandy going on
It's actually really funny how this has early 00s cartoon inspiration when this is also directly inspired by n64 graphic visuals and 3d platformer feel(ala your mario 64 or banjo kazooie type experience but not as long or with as much active level booty fanfare)...despite both of those things HARDLY havin any overlap yk wht im sayin? but enough abt the art, hows the G A M E?

well the kit you have going on with Seve is rlly cool! I love how heavy he feels while also having a little bit of endlag slip going on to really give you those "OH SHIT!" moments when youre tryin to be precise, and precise is the name of the game because this game will totally not baby you with some jumps
you get everything you could need right at the start

save for another ability youll get later on thatll open more options and opportunities required to beat the game and do some junk on the way there

the sound design SHOULD get annoying after a bit, flailing around and all the cartoon crashes and thunks to do things.. but it rly doesnt LMAO infact it became satisfying just smacking seve's head into shit just to hear the noise
i got so use to this infact, i would fuckup even basic platforming moments later on because id be doing the air headbutt so often i forgot i could just JUMP NORMALLY LIKE A NORMAL GOAT THING

I mean it's a cheap game! only runnin for like 7 bucks to maybe 8 or 9 depending on where you live!..

But a weighty non-overpowered platforming main character in a platformer thts gonna require some precision, interacting with setpieces in ways not spelled out to you, figuring out a lot of things not spelled out to you despite hints being up and around through NPCs(watch for things like tiles offcolor or your groundpound or even usin the camera buttons to get a good scope on shit!).. its not a For Everyone thing even though I totally think its so rewarding getting good at it that the difficulty is really just bent around direction and understanding the controls rather than there being superhard bosses going on
though sometimes that walljump or latchin onto somethin will be rlly scary and seem like sometimes it wont work even though its really nice feeling.. i partially blame my own kinda jank xbox controller i did all this with(there's n64 controller support along with other controller support if thats your jam too!, you can play this game with a keyboard as well... if u hate yaself!!!)

but yeah about 3 main areas (technically theres... more!! but-)
i think a sequel would be totally cool, like some people are clappin for, to really write some of the felt wrongs with the game to perfect it

The chapter you initially play and fight to get Ray in, it kind of Sucks! her boss fight is dookie and way too fucking easy, to the point where it doesnt even show off her gimmick of her gameplay much at all!

Her campaign itself is also..... Something!... she winds up going on her own mission to feed off xels and not feel empty and weak.. and there's like sparing cutscenes inbetween with her coming to conclusions that lead her down a similar path to Beck, White, Call and the others down the regular story's progression. Its almost like an alternate route if you will

This is cool! On paper! In practice its actually horribly underwhelming because Ray is so fucking cool as a character and pieces together asking why Dr White wont talk to her or why she was basically made the same as Beck and Call but is a rancorous bloodfueled constantly siphoning vampire-esque robot that always needs to take something with xels out feel full.

NOTHING!
Not even some parting words that matter out here
She gets packed up after absorbing all those negative xels from the final boss(whos ultimately unchanged from the main story ofc, not even unique dialogue going on)
in an ambulance and then has a majin vegeta-ish explosion happen in the ambulance """""""injuring""""" some cherry dyna workers
and she just... monologues wondering what dr white's deal is... and then goes on her own adventure to feed her insatiable craving for xels bec- bitch.

She literally winds up in a loop like she winds up getting the other mighty number power data like Beck does... but NOTHING IS GAINEDDDD LMAO NOTHING IS EARNED FROM THIS STORY EXCEPT HER MAYBE GETTING A TASTE OF WHAT HUMANITY IS LIKE W/O NEEDING TO FEED
And while it's relevant for the remainder of my review
Some of ray's versions of these abilities actually feel a lot better and rectify the shittiness of things like the seismic ability or the ice ability to me, i think theyre way more useful in ray's story than beck ever had it going on.

But all in all this was pitiful but i do love the concept of constantly needing to feed to keep that hp bar topped off and her dash feels so fucking funnnn and the abilities work in tandem with her pretty well too

Its just really depressing to think that you got Zero from mega man on paper right, and you make him this cool vampiric black woman robot on a path of blood to ask questions on why she was ever born
why was she created to only feed and spill robot blood
why can she not even truly die and just be brittle and frail

and ill probably check out whatever that is some other day

But after enjoying the main campaign, some of the challenge mission stuff, and frowning through most of this DLC

im JUUUUUUUUUUUST addin my two cents to giving yall a nod that the physics in the demo are great, there's some hiccups here n there with collision but its definitely got some nice momentum and set pieces going on to make each area feel more like a speedster's playground dream, was especially surprised at how youre able to dick around with the enemies too.. so cool!!! :) the kickstarter is currently ongoing as of this mini review touchin on it?.. whenever the full product comes out ill be isolating this in quotes and below it will be my True review <3 give it a whirl if you fw 3d platformers, dont gotta be a sonic fan to get a taste for whats going on.
there's even online that doesnt totally blow and i really like youre able to fully customize what the little dude looks like through hues and saturation adjustment
