"You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?"
Having to plan out your day ahead of time to see how much you can get done and then being able to save all the progress you made feels great, because' the threat of losing that progress is so very real.
The dungeon designs are probably the highest average in the series, Stone Tower is perhaps my favorite of the whole series. I love the mechanic of having the dungeon flip and the atmosphere is just killer. When the dungeon flips its feels like rather than the same place it’s like its own pocket dimension. It feels so bizarre and isolated, and I love it.
The music is nothing to scoff at either. It might not reach the sheer numbers of good tracks as Ocarina of Time, but it’s still got plenty of great works. 'Song of Healing' and 'Clock Town' are fan favorites and great, but my personal favorite is 'stone tower temple'.
Half of the games namesake, the masks are interesting as well. namely the transformation masks. The Deku mask gives vertical height, the Goron mask gives strength and speed, and the Zora mask grants underwater traversal.
I also adore the vibes the game gives off. you rarely go a conversation that doesn't feature some reference to denial, death and loss. it makes the game feel sadder and sadder as you can't reasonably fix everyone's problems in one cycle...not everyone is going to be saved...
it may have flaws, but this game is just so un-apologetically unique.
This game will always have a special place in my heart.
