Fallout: New Vegas is packed with little details. There's a small fetch quest (one of many such quests) in Honest Hearts which requires you to get something from a "scout bus." Normally I'm desensitized to just about everything Fallout throws at me, and I usually find the props used for environmental storytelling amusing... but there are skeletons in that bus. Little ones. Maybe it's because I'm a dad. Maybe it's because I was a scout. Maybe it's because I let slip the blanket covering my existential dread. Most people probably don't care or don't even notice, but to me it was a powerful and disturbing moment. You'll also find the remains of an adult (presumably a driver or counselor) crawling up the riverbank.
Honest Hearts is a complicated DLC for me to cover, and I honestly don't know if I want to get into it. It hits too close to home and I don't have the strength right now. I understand many think it's dull or empty, but for me it's a beautiful and tranquil experience, especially since you're not subjected to Johnny Guitar even once. The companion dialogue is annoying, but also... it rains!
I think I'll just point you to this review by RestlessOrgonon

"The New Canaanites interfered in their lives. We did that. And we've done it before, with others. Always with good intentions, but things go wrong. When that happens, we can't just abandon them, let them die at the hands of New Canaan's enemies."

Ok ok and this quote I found which I feel reflects how hard the devs went on the background information for this DLC:
"The despised and degraded son of the forest, who has wandered in dejection and sorrow, and suffered reproach, shall then drop his disguise, and stand forth in manly dignity, and exclaim to the Gentiles who have envied and sold him: “I am Joseph; does my father yet live?” Or, in other words: I am a descendant of that Joseph who was sold into Egypt. You have hated me, and sold me, and thought I was dead. But lo! I live."
-Proclamation of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (April 6, 1845)

Ok I can't help myself. I just want to say that I live 12 minutes from the military base the White Legs raided prior to the destruction of New Canaan. It's real! I checked! I saw Furiosa right by there on Saturday!
Conmanese to English translation: The experience of playing this is too kneecapped to say this is anywhere close to being Classic.™
