Incredible game to the start of an amazing series. Yoko Taro is a sadistic mad genius and I love him. The gameplay is janky for sure, but it's nowhere near as bad as people claim and still pretty fun to me. Seriously, play this game for the incredible storytelling and for the fact it truly utilizes the medium of gaming to the fullest to tell its story in a way very few games do, you won't regret it.

Please,,, I don't want to be mean, I understand and I want to give Drakengard another look but "it's nowhere near as bad as people claim and still pretty fun to me." reads like a cry for help
Well what else am I supposed to say? People act like it's got the jankiest gameplay ever and it seriously just doesn't, it's no more janky than most PS2 games of this era and it is still a lot of fun

i treated it as a meditative exercise and it rocked; plenty of people enjoy jrpg grinds the same way. i had a good time in these low fidelity, lifeless environs mercilessly, dryly slaughtering to the accompanying discord of one of the greatest soundtracks ever orchestrated
i have nothing wrong with what either of you saying in terms of finding enjoyment. It's just that I've played tons of jank ps2 games myself! , I've played a bunch of 'meme' bad games that people have talked about, but I've never had a more miserable gameplay experience than Drakengard and i'm being entirely sincere. But more power to both of you
i wish i could edit a comment because I accidentally forgot my example.

I've played The Bouncer, and I found drakengard worse to play

yeah, sorry - was hoping it wouldn't come across as argumentative! just offering what i think is one of the better frameworks with which to tackle this game. letting your mind wander seems to work best
it didn't (and god i hope i'm not coming across that way either), i'll genuinely keep that framework in mind. I'm just trying REAL hard to wrap my head around it all ahh.
I wasn't trying to be argumentative either, but I guess to each their own, I've had less pleasant experiences with some modern games honestly lmao
