Games I've Completed In 2023 Ranked

Nothing here!

First real horror game, amazing. Great puzzles and dungeons. The atmosphere brought out personal thoughts out of me. Odd story progression in some places, but it still is an amazing time. 9/10
Amazing game, glad I'm finally getting through the rest of FF with this. The gameplay is much more flexible than ff7 thanks to the junction system allowing you to control exactly what a character does with magic. Although it takes away any unique ability or traits that the ff7 cast had in gameplay, their only major difference between characters are limit breaks and base stats. I also found it really dissapointing that there's a huge lack of content in terms of gameplay and story. The hubs barely have any attractions at all, any side quests for guardian forces or new commands, ost is reused constantly, and the party members are not talked about outside of the main story. The main story is great for what it is, I loved the heavier themes of loss compared to ff7, it just lacks depth even if you go out of your way to do the optional events. 9/10
Phenomenal, 2nd favorite character action game behind devil may cry 3. Bayonetta is a game brimming with color and art backed up by incredible movement in gameplay. Mechanics that respond to gameplay feel and are very easy to read. Bosses are qte filler but regardless 9/10
This has been a game I wanted to play way over a decade but I was poor when this came out, was it worth getting into it late I won't know. Very very good, outside of gameplay everything this game wins me over with the charm put into it. The fake outs and knee jerk twists are fun to the presentation of the game's story goes for. The atmosphere of the underground is inmense. Gameplay holds it back from really moving the story because the challenge is nothing, encounters you can end with sparing and the puzzles are easy to read. 9/10
Reading the credits scene changed me. Amazing game. 9/10
Beat it as only sonic and knuckles for now, incredible 2d sonic. The tighter speed focus with the bigger moveset is the best the 2d series has ever played in. The level design is a fresh take, away from the upper path>reward/punishment funneling of most sonic games, it's now focused on taking risks in the level over choosing short cuts which are the slowest paths. The boost mode and tricks also add to that speed focus with all the characters. Wasn't a fan of the side scrolling bosses though, they are a generic tug of war and its easy to miss landing on them because you can jump on the wrong slope in the boss fight.
9/10
Feels good to finish my sonic binge that was from a decade ago. Played through as sonic/knuckles to cream/sonic, another amazing 2d sonic. The pairs lend themselves really well, there are weaker pairs that you'd never want to touch, but the system is the most creative idea in the advance games by far. It adds so much to exploration just being able to have tricks wherever you go with your character. Most levels were good, some bad, level design had knee jerk death moments and felt cluttered in the later half, its pretty even in the end though. Fully convinced that these games are better than all the classics without having to think about it. 9/10

Great, somehow still feels close to what Y0's gameplay is like. Decent story, has few contrived bits but it pays off with really good symbolisms between the characters and themes of detachment. The gameplay is ps2 magic, flows really well with the faster pace and looser physics over later games. 9/10
Finally got around to playing this, pretty good all around. Evolves the classic gameplay to the point it could pass as another part of the series entirely. Double gear system is extremely cool to use, the power gear gives you an entirely different moveset with all your weapons, it's insane. The speed gear is not as useful since it's like a emulator tool, but it can be helpful but I like to not use it a lot. The difficulty is nice, bosses are more aggressive and play around the arena in different way. I also appreciate that this game has longer stages than most games in the series. Great game, want to replay it a lot. 9/10
Amazing. One of the most difficult mega man games out there, though not as distasteful like earlier nes games. It hands out fantastic weapon and permanent shop upgrades options as soon as you get past one robot master. It also is a big inspiration for me in terms of sprites. 8/10
Decent rpg. The chip mechanics are interesting and the double souls are fun. We love you wind soul. 6/10
A step down from yakuza 1, still good. The camera is considerably better but it recycles the gameplay from y1, not for the better most of the time I think. The scripted fights get annoying really quickly, the story pushes you into one when you have to go to one point on to another, and, I really don't like this structure at all. The story taking on a major focus on mystery is neat but I was not invested in it at all because some of the later scenes.. The betrayal at the end and the last few scenes made a lot of it fall flat, but it has a lot of strong moments that were built up really well. 6/10
Good, expectations were high but bn4 is well above still. Crosses were dumbed down a lot from souls and beast out doesn't add much to the game, all great bosses though. Though it's surprising this game's story is actually pretty good, far more effort than the cartoony tropes of the other games. Irisexe and colonelexe I loved a lot. 6/10
Revisited my first capcom game ever, very cool. 6/10
Had this eating me away to complete for two yrs now, was it worth completing I don't really know. Gameplay completely aside, this is a really good story. Without the context of p1's story and eternal punishment it's hard to pinpoint, but the story has an incredible arc, powerful themes are here. Internalizing post trauma stress being the main one I'd relate to. Fun cast, I'd love every character besides yukino and jun. The overworld is pretty good, I love how the rumor system was done. Gameplay overall is dull though, probably one of the worst jrpg systems I've played, autobattles take care of anything that's put in front of you and the warp/fake floor dungeons already made it worse getting through it. 6/10
Completing felt like a burnout. I had the fast forward button held throughout only stopping to watch cutscenes or dialogue. Vapid dungeon puzzles combined with forced encounters, it was not a good time. The mantra is a well thought system though, it saved me a lot of the time I would've spent on this game trying to recruit demons. 5/10
Great. Kind of held back by the special stages and very short amount of control. Easily third best of the 2d classic though. 6/10
Love everything about this game except getting to play it. Peak classic sonic in my heart. 6/10
Rondo is finally a classic castlevania styled game that does not give me carpal tunnel. Great ova visual style, voice acting and ost. I don't think classic castlevania gameplay will be for me because of how limited it is, but I can respect this one for how much attention has been put. 5.8/10
