Games About Being Nice To Other Players.

The advent of online play back when the 2000's were beginning, in the mist of cluttered lobbies and mad enemy players saying slurs, people actually managed to form meaningful connections with others, in some cases forming friendship that still stand to this very day, and that's something that's just gotten more common as time has passed, and I think that's simply beautiful. However, when you think about it, most online games have conflict as the central focus, even if it's co-op and fighting enemy NPCs; few online components distance from the idea of fighting and shooters others, and not really being able to interact with other players, friendly or nor, in more meaningful ways.

That of course is different now, the most popular online games are still action-centered ,and there's nothing wrong with that, but it makes it so the few games that attempt this different perspectives of interaction between players and put a focus on simply being lovely and trying to help each other beyond focusing on an objective the more special, and regardless of quality or if I even played them, I cannot help but adore them all; the simple act of inspiring to be nice to others is worth of praising, and they are stars with a special shine in the sky.

If you think there's a game deserving to be here, please, let me know in the comments, and thank you for stopping by and checking this list out, I truly mean it. And have a great day! :D

The poster child for this specific topic, and for good reason. Kind Words is a gift, one worth treasuring, and I plan to revisit it soon and talk about it in full length. But for now... yeah, it's lovely.
Truly, a ''strand'' type game.
Minecraft is not without its dark side, especially on anarchy servers and the such; but smaller or even personal servers are a joy to play in, to work together and help people that may need an item or a hand in getting something.
I still relish the recent memories of meeting people in my journey, and discovering so much thanks to them and moving forward because of their help. Even in a ruined wasteland, there's kindness to be shared.
The Animal Crossing series, as a whole, could perfectly fit here, it's just so cozy and helping decorate a buddy's house is the best.
Similarly to Minecraft, the invaders and message trolls are a bit of a drawback for this topic, but pale in comparison to the help you can receive from others, and actually beating bosses or even getting things from others and discovering places you didn't know thanks to help of others makes a game that I can confidently put here.

@Snigglegros Good one! I'll add it right now, thank you!
Technically NieR Automata counts imo

@Cass I had no idea that it has online, to be honest xD. To the list it goes, thank you so much!
Yeah it’s kinda a weird addition but I think it fits here in a weird sort of sense

Man i would not add new horizons as a representation for this topic lol, new horizon people during the time of release were genuinely some of the meanest and most narrow minded people ive ever witnessed, completely spit on the attitude of the rest of the series.

Kirby star allies was all about kissing/feeding your friends though

@moschidae My own personal experiences were pretty good with that one, but now that you mentioned it, a ton of people were indeed really unpleasant. I'll change it for New Leaf and add Star Allies, thank you!

Monster Hunter. It's like one of the only games I'd go out of my way to play in Multiplayer. No PVP, no stealing loot or items from one another, the team shares lives so you have to be aware of your other member's well being, you can play around in the host's hub with fun gestures (even literally getting drunk), showing off your personal room (moreso in Monster Hunter World then Rise), even a arm-wrestling mini-game, people love to show off their vanity armor sets to look cool (or ridiculous); it's just a pleasant time. Yeah you get the rare assholes, but that's nigh unavoidable in any multiplayer game. And I feel its fairly easy to leave and/or kick out toxic players, but from my experience I've never really had to do that after hundreds of hours with the series.

Also if you're going to add Minecraft, then Terraria should also be here for the exact reasons (good and bad). Discord games with Terraria is such a fun time, and is probably my favorite multiplayer game ever.

@AlphaOne2 Both are fantastic adittions, I would hace never considered Monster Hunter, but everything you've said sounds fantastic and like a really good time. I'll add it and Terraria to the list, thank you so much!

Live fast could also be fitting

@ThinkingFella I completely forgot about that one, and it's a perfect fit. To the list it goes!

I second Monster Hunter. Nothing but a great co-op time.

The LittleBigPlanet series would be a good fit, it featured co-op and fostered a community of creative people building levels. If you choose to add LittleBigPlanet, I'd recommend using LittleBigPlanet 2 as I and many others believe that's the pinnacle of the series.

Burnout Paradise had Co op mission that basically required everyone to pull stunts like jumping over other players parked cars. Usually all players needed to pull the stunt so you needed to maintain a rotation.
Back in the day there was no quick chat and headsets were rare on consoles but it worked great in my experience, probably because of how minimal communication was.

@Marki I'm honestly a little bit sad I didn't get to play LittleBigPlanet back in they day, everyone has so many good memories of it... I'll add it right away, thank you so much for the suggestion!

@Jackier That sounds really unique and REALLY fun, I'll be sure to add it to the list, thank you! :D

I really love this list! I wish there were more games like this! I suppose Stardew Valley could potentially go on here as well because of the online co-op...

The integration of co-op in Journey was so incredible. My first playthrough almost entirely solo, which was great, but during my second playthrough another player joined me very early on and stayed with me until the end credits, which made for a truly special experience.

@Corrugated_Fox Thank you so much for the kind words! I wholeheartedly agree, I wished more games explored more positive interactions between players, but again, that makes it so the games that do explore it feel even more amazing. In my first playthrough of Journey I encountered a ton of other players, and meeting with both clearly experimented and new players was some of the best moments in a game I absolutely love and made the experience even better.

Also, I'll add Stardew Valley! I haven't tried the co-op yet, but considering how the game itself is, it perfectly fits in the list. Again, thank you!
