Final Fantasy XVI is an incredible game, great combat of course, but really its the storytelling, writing, voice acting, and characters that absolutely steal the show, all supported by the Final Fantasy standard of excellent music and visuals.
God of War 3 is part of the upper echelon of action titles, boasting some of the best baseline combat, visuals, story of action games as a whole and is a great conclusion to a series that should've just been a trilogy.
Dragon's Crown is another excellent Vanillaware title with some of the best hand-drawn art in gaming, excellent music, fun sidescrolling beat-em-up/RPG hybrid combat.
