quinnman89 completed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
It was exactly what the switch needed. A fantastic, "next-gen" feeling open world first party game. I adored this game my first time playing.
I can't ever touch it again though. Replaying it feels slow and aimless. Couldn't get through the DLC without falling asleep. Now zelda is in an awkward spot again where I dislike where it's at.

linkcrossing completed Mega Man Battle Network
I played the edition of this game in the battle network collection.
I applaud the concept of this game. They turned megaman into something completely different and fresh, the problem is that the kinks are not ironed out.

This game sucks major ass.

My biggest problem with the game is the random encounter rate. It does NOT work with the labyrinth dungeon layouts of this game. Walking around a dungeon, not sure where to go, and you get a random encounter every 20 seconds... Its infuriating. Sometimes a battle would last longer than normal, and I'd be completely disoriented in which direction I was going. It was frankly dreadful. and it doesn't stop. There's no way to escape battles (other than an escape chip, which why would you put that in your deck?) or lower the rate of random encounters. you just have to suffer through it.
This is why I turned on the super mega buster mode halfway into the power plant dungeon. I couldn't stand it anymore. The frustration that dungeon gave me was more than I could possibly take. I ended up using a guide for the puzzles. It wasn't worth it.

The dungeons are labyrinths that feel like they're more to waste the players time with random encounters than they are to be interesting. I especially DESPISE the internet. It's layout is confusing and sometimes where paths connect is ambiguous.

I'd seriously recommend skipping this game if you plan to play on real hardware, the super buster mode was the only thing that got me to the end.

To end on a good note, the game's visual style and music (while repetitive) I found to be nice to listen to and a little catchy.
I'll eventually play the other games in the series, and I hope they improve on this foundation because there really is something here.

quinnman89 finished Still Wakes the Deep
QTEs, slow walking and swimming, stealth segments. It's exactly what you'd expect.
Great vocal performances and some set pieces look really pretty.

quinnman89 reviewed Alien Soldier
The first level is a pretty bad first impression. Get past that and you're in for a good time.
i think that is a very interesting and fun time. the trick for bosses is knowing when to i-frame dash and parry. Parrying projectiles drops health, but health drops expire fast! Have to balance going forward and taking your time.

its too bad the parry input is a double tap
it's not like i was accidentally doing it or anything but there were times where i was on beat to parry on the first press, but not the second
if that makes sense

unlimited continues and a short password system makes this pretty forgiving too
