I couldn't remember what the name of that fuckass game that i hated but played a lot of in my childhood was until today where I realized it was a game from a cartoon

anyways it's terrible but welcome to my backlog

This is the first Dragon Quest to truly put emphasis into the story and characters and as someone who truly values that aspect of JRPGs above all else it makes it by default the most interesting one in my eyes so far.
The game is funny and heart wrenching all at once while having some very creative ways to tell a story through gameplay with limited text (shoutout to Torneko's chapter).

What you have here is a 90s point-and-click adventure game adaptation of a 60s short story, with heavy involvement of the original author, that (in my opinion) surpasses that original work. Unlike the short story, there's an underlying theme of hope within the hopeless walls of AM. Hope, not for salvation, but closure, to make amends with your past. Great story, great presentation, absolutely a game worth playing.

Pajama Sam is such a cool series of games I'd totally be obsessed with if I played it as a child so it's really sad to find out that Humungous got bought up, laid off half their staff and then proceeded to release this soulless piece of shit. No surprise the studio died shortly after, what a shame.

Real glad this doesn't happen in the industry anymore, right?

First game I ever played as a kid, and you know what? It still holds up. Even now, as an adult working to create my own games, I look back and can see how much this game has influenced me creatively. I only hope the current generation of kids can have something like that.

This game feels incredibly modern in design for its time even if this is a remake, the core design is solid and timeless
It's a step above DQ1 and 2 in every way conceivable.
It's a game that gives me such a genuine feeling of being in an adventure and conquering every bit of its world and secrets is so satisfying in a way I cannot parallel to many other games besides maybe some of my favorite Zelda games.
I truly appreciate how well thought-out encounters feel in that game, all of them is a puzzle and the real addictive part of it comes from figuring out how to clear them as efficiently as possible.
That to me is the core of every good JRPG gameplay wise and exactly what made me want to get into Dragon Quest due to Chrono Trigger making me feel the same thing.
It shows its age in many areas and isn't a flawless game by any means, but I can only imagine how it must have felt like to play this on release

Plot's pretty weak overall but Zack has a cool tragic hero thing going on and it expands on Sephiroth in some p cool ways that humanise him further

If you love the gameplay & the sandbox of the first game & Miles Morales then you love Spider-Man 2. Traversing around this gorgeous city is fun to roam around especially now with the inclusion of the web-glide ability. Combat is pretty great too with some new abilities for both characters though I wish the game had a proper lock-on function as they were times I wanted to target a specific enemy & the game decided instead to attack the one nearest to me. Bosses are fun & can be challenging especially on a first playthrough despite the number of combat options you have equipped.

They is a lot to experience in this game with loads of side quests & activities & the amount of detail is insane that I could see why this game cost a lot. I enjoy the number of suits you can get to even from the movies.

The story is good too though not as great as the first time around as I felt one or two conflicts interactions feeling a bit forced. While I thought the main villain in 1 is still my favourite the rogue's gallery here is still amazing especially the main antagonist Kraven who is such a delight being a ruthless killer that causes a lot of struggles for the majority of the casts both the good guys & the criminals.

Its a marvellous time that is worth picking up if you have a PS5.

By all accounts this game is way more frustrating than Zero but it also has some peak moments and every time Lloyd says something about barriers I clap so it's gotta be at least almost as good

This game (Unfortunately) means a lot to me

This game's dedication in making every part of its world feel like a real lived place is outstanding, it's something I have always enjoyed about Final Fantasy as a franchise but this one particularly excels at just making you want to have your own adventure at your own pace
I've been fully on board with their vision of making more than a remake of the original story since the beginning but Rebirth truly fully sold me on the idea.
While not flawless by any means, it will be a long time until I encounter another game that feels this ambitious and for lack of a better word, "magical"

ohhh yeah baby that's that gooddd adventure

When Alpha says something so double spinning edge phobic you gotta hit them with that Alrest stare
