"We must appreciate the fact that the world allowed us to exist."

This is one of the highest peaks a JRPG can reach with a narrative and character-driven story, yes, it has both.

t-h-a-n-k y-o-u

The Legend of Ar tonelico.

The best series I have consumed in the last 11 months, and I'm so happy that I finally had the courage to play it, and the fact it's this incredible.
Four-dimensional characters (saying they are only three-dimensional is disrespectful).
Impeccable and frenetic writing, it doesn't divert the focus for a single minute, having perfect pacing.
AT's soundtracks are the most unique you're able to listen in the medium
there is no comparison.

It's better than its successor in literally every aspect and literally even improves a little on the first game's plot.
Jakuri and Croix my GOATs
Luca and Cloche's relationship is one of the BEST RELATIONSHIPS I'VE EVER SEEN IN A JRPG
In this story we see what it really means to be human. Ar Tonelico would be the first story I'd present to a robot. Its ability to have explored the human mind, our greatest flaws and goods, is something I have rarely seen in any story I've ever read. Even a robot would've a doctorate in the human mind after finishing this game.
It's a dive into the human mind, into our deepest depths, into our greatest perversities and evils, but also into our greatest brilliance as a human being. What an immersive experience that leaves me speechless.

All characters have masterful writing. Through the music, manages to increase the impact of its plot and twists beautifully.
A great conductor in worldbuilding, Ar Tonelico has its mastery especially in music. It's a game about the art of music.
Those songs are among the most beautiful and well-written songs I've ever seen in gaming medium, and only playing it to understand, I'm saying this as a person who has a high understanding of music and experience in orchestras, as I am a violinist although not a professional one

Just
Unique.

The story is dense, complex, extremely creative and with heaps of dynamism, between the characters themselves and the world itself, which has a wonderful construction. There are literally no bad or irrelevant characters, everyone fulfills their role, everyone has their reasons, they are ALIVE and are part of this journey.

For me, this game becomes a classic of the century among JRPGs, a hidden gem that I hope one day will receive more applause and recognition for conveying such a fantastic story that I've only praises.

The creator of this story, genius Akira Tsuchiya, created an entire new language for the game called Hymmnos, is the official composer of Ar Tonelico, director and writer of this story, who spent 5 to 6 years writing it.

Thank you, simply thank you. For me, you wrote one of the greatest JRPG classics and marked your story in my books.

"My song gives you endless courage."

The history of humanity is a timeline of suffering, cruelty and violence. The innocent people affected by these contexts may search for meaning; may try to find an explanation as to why their loved ones keep having pain inflicted upon them by forces outside of their control. Some turn to nationalism (“we are nobly defending our country”), some turn to religion (“It’s all what God intended”). In truth, war, death, tragedy, it’s all utterly meaningless. Lies are told to you, through the media you consume or through political discourse, that soldiers are fighting for democracy, for freedom. No, they are dying and murdering for the interests of the elite, almost always. Left alive are broken humans searching for meaning where there is none. If you live relatively comfortably, you may not have realized that life is disposable under the metric determined by society’s ruling forces. When you realize the inherent lack of justification for suffering, it’s easy to lose faith in humanity, to believe true connection is impossible and that all people, at heart, are selfish husks who operate based on their egotistical needs.
Hello Girl opens with a disembodied voice claiming that people are tools who serve others’ needs. Your employer sees you for your labour, your government sees you as a statistic. Even your lover doesn’t really love you, they love the feeling that comes from your affection. True connection doesn’t exist, she claims, and the world outside of your individual perception is fake, Unreal (1998), meaningless. By the end, this character sacrifices her sense of self, as her body is literally destroyed, to become “real” and embody the image of an idol, someone known by thousands. Therefore, she only exists when someone is looking at her. Who is real, then? Her true self or her fabricated image? This story proves this way of thinking is flawed.
Ana’s existence is paradoxical. She is a switch operator, a “Hello Girl” responsible for connecting people, while occupying a job that doesn’t involve human interaction. She serves as a bridge for communication, but her time is spent alone, shut off from society. Ana lives in an abandoned workplace full of empty rooms kept purposefully locked, as she’s too afraid to witness anything that could remind her of other people. She is a spectre who can do nothing but observe a world indifferent towards her. This is reinforced by the fact that she and her sister Clara are interchangeable to the eyes of her employer, her identity is muted. She embraces her insignificance and accepts a life away from other people’s vision, perhaps as a way to escape the horrors of the reality around her. Losing Clara, her only true connection was extinguished and her sense of “real existence” was damaged. If you live alone for too long, you might start to wonder if anyone would care about you at all, which is why Ana is so surprised when Courier shows compassion and empathy towards her. Courier attempts to officialize Ana’s existence by registering her at her job, but, ultimately, achieves that by developing a relationship with her. In an universe of incomprehensible cruelty of unmanageable proportions, stability is found through love and self-realization.
Becoming real is not becoming an idol, achieving an image known by thousands. To become real, you must live with yourself, live with another person, cause change and allow yourself to be changed. It’s important to note that love is not about feeling what someone is feeling, but feeling with them. As it is articulated in The Holy Mountain: “We came in search of the secret of immortality, to be like Gods. And here we are, mere mortals. If we have not obtained immortality, at least we have obtained reality” (https://youtu.be/0dX75e9LS60?si=4kupjXfG7iESG_nS). We live in our connections and in the messages we share with the world, but being alone isn’t abandoning existence. Your individuality is what makes you human, it’s what makes these connections genuine in the first place. In an age where the constructed image is becoming more relevant than the individual essence, it’s important to remember that.

Hello, and welcome to the Letshugbro Backloggd Review Page. This week we will review the highly anticipated new video game by Remedy Entertainment called Alan Wake II. Alan Wake II is available on the Epic Games Store as an epic 90GB download file on your personal computer, or can be purchased for your Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S or PlayStation 5 games console in digital download or Blu-ray disc format. Remedy's brilliance is on full display here with a very cool box art that is both pleasant and tasteful to the eye; they have set a high standard with their previous video games, but I can say without hesitation that Alan Wake II has created the best and most compelling content for Ending Explained YouTube videos that I have ever seen. The Wikipedia synopsis is truly riveting, and will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Thrilling, moody, and captivating - Alan Wake II is a contender for the Game Awards. It has a story that can't help but pull you in, a spell-binding tour de force that shines a light on Sam Lake's brilliantly dark mind. The game begins as a murder mystery, but pulls the rug out from under the player and turns into an all-out supernatural horror! The worlds and characters echo each other in unique and surprising ways, and the Overlap sections in particular are rich examples of the game's themes - the salt shaker story had me rolling on the floor! The stage fight scene from Alan Wake is one-upped by the mind-frying Dark Ocean Summoning scene, and the tragedy of Saga losing her family is a blatant commentary on a woman's struggle to achieve balance in their personal and professional lives - she and Casey will go down as gaming's best law enforcement duo! The Old Gods of Asgard are back too, so Lake clearly knows what his fans want to see! He deftly tricks the reader into believing the Cult of the Tree is the story-within-a-story-within-a-story-within-a-story's antagonist, and setting the trilogy's exciting conclusion at Deerfest makes Alan Wake II a genre-bending mixture of fact and fiction. The gut-wrenching ending is modern horror at its finest - this motherfucker is a home run! Alan Wake has done it again! I'll give it a score of █████ out of 5.

If you can't find solace in heaven, look me up in the Wire. I might even give you a little kiss.

This game is just beautiful. I didn’t know Mili did the ost for this game the first time, and upon replay it hits so much harder. The unending somber, regretful mood reinforces the experience so much. It’s also a lot less linear than I remembered, at least after i got the ability to swim. Combat never felt dull, but i can understand why it wouldn’t appeal to some. A lot less souls-y than most other similar games, which i think is a good thing. Viking attack is still way more fun than the umbral knight, and i definitely feel bad for not utilizing any of the other spirits beyond the hammer, projectile, and both counters.
I would recommend this game to most people who like metroidvanias, though I’ve been informed that the first YouTube result for it is some review channel dogging on it lmao.

One of the most cozy games of all time. Lovely characters, simple but enjoyable story, and one of my favorite VN soundtracks I've listened to. A perfect game for a rainy day.

Maeda's routes are a mixed bag with his usual faults, but the world view of the Eternal World is solid and results in some wonderful monologues from Kouhei, the protagonist.

Hisaya's are the best part, especially Misaki and Akane's, the latter of which I think should be saved for last.

The PS1 exclusive heroine now has her route translated, too -- it's not very good but it's cool to finally read ONE's dark history.
