Fishing Minigames Ranked
Fishing minigames are an art, and have to be finely tuned to fit the essence of a fishing minigame. Here’s my ranking of each fishing minigame and how well they stack up.

Gets the fishing ‘vibe’ just right. Lot of fun, with some pretty decent rewards. Short and sweet, and out of the way. Exactly what a fishing minigame should strive to do.

Pretty fun, with some broken rewards that allow you to essentially skip a ton of the game. Takes a while and is more pushed on the player than I’d like from a fishing minigame, but not bad at all.

Super cute and fun! Unfortunately only good for one session, as once you’ve done the highest level fishing challenge it no longer offers anything. Great the first time though.

Classic “wait and reel” style fishing, not bad by any means but certainly milquetoast. Rewards can be crazy if the player knows what to do though, so it gets a boost for that.

Pretty fun, but not quite the relaxing vibe I like in a fishing minigame, and doesn’t compensate enough with how fun it is like in Kirby. Rewards are also nothing special.

Classic “wait and reel” style, while not anything special in practice, fish are pretty vital for early game survival, so it feels very naturally integrated.

Classic “wait and reel” style, pretty boring here too and the rewards aren’t much. Very mediocre offering.

I don’t understand how fishing works In this game and I’m quite frankly too scared to figure it out

Obtuse, frustrating and not fun. Not only that, it’s required for one of the playthrough if you want the true ending. Bottom of the barrel fishing minigame.
