The Pretendo Preservation Rapid-Fire Round

As Nintendo's shadow looms over the shutdown switch for all their online multiplayer servers on Wii U and 3DS, Pretendo Network comes forth with a call to arms: "Provide us network dumps for games that don't have them, and make our private server development easier in the long run." I couldn't ask for a better excuse to take a brisk trip down memory lane.

Games listed are ones I participated in or created dumps for.

Pretty damn fun shoot-em-up that I got on sale. Your ship has two firing options: a peashooter, and bombs that explode on impact with an enemy, causing them to make a mini explosion that explodes other enemies that come in contact with it. To optimally rack up combos and take out enemies efficiently, you need to fire your bombs where they'll make the biggest explosion chain. Hence, "Chain Blaster". There's a pitiful amount of content on offer here, but it's naturally fun to just shoot for high scores. I will never get tired of flying through a Windows Media Player visualizer as sick techno beats are pumped through my 3DS speakers, complete with a synthesized female voice announcing my greatness in perfect Engrish.
As a studio, Shin'en has always represented """style""" over substance, and this game is no different. It looks very shiny, but playing a dual-stick shooter on 3D planets on a system with one analog input is insufferable. Just buy Geometry Wars 3 for your platform of choice next time it goes on sale.
I don't think Sonic Generations on the 3DS is bad, but playing the online versus mode does NOT do this game any favors. The game locks itself at 20 FPS and as a result, the platforming feels like stomping around in mud. Ugh.
Now that I've attempted to dabble in DOA4, I realize I didn't give this title the respect it deserves. It's basically portable DOA4 minus the AI constantly curb-stomping you into a fine paste. How the hell did the 3DS get a fully-featured DOA game while the PSP got stuck with Dead or Alive: Paradise? Really not beating the "Playstation Pornable" allegations there.
Still one of my favorite games in the series, still the only mainline title to have full online co-op and not just a versus mode. Not willing to lose that aspect to the annals of time.
Last time I played this game, I tried using a save editor to give myself the maximum amount of money and some rare parts. Earning more money caused my total to underflow and crash the game. Whoops.
It's not a bad entry in the series (Ultra Smash is the absolute worst), but it definitely feels like it's going through the motions. Still, portable Mario Tennis with online play is pretty sweet.
Me and the other people I was playing with had to remind each other that we were here to make network dumps, not just play the game. Needless to say, it was the highlight of my night. This game is superb, beats the hell out of Super Rush any day of the week. Bursting with personality and creative locales (golfing underwater?!?), this game has some of the most soul I've seen in a "corporate era" Mario product. Unfathomably based.
I'm going to assume the previous games were better than this confusing mess. Nothing says "game balance" quite like pumping your dinosaur with as much steroids as possible right before they attack.
Not sure what Tekken game this is based off of, but I'm going to assume it's Tekken 6. No one ever expects the Asuka Parry (except you, now that you've read this).
This was when I realized that, despite its dogshit launch lineup, I gotta hand it to Nintendo. They got pretty much the big three FGC titles on their puny handheld in some form or fashion.
I think the 3D chibi models are cute as can be, but the RPG game is absurdly shallow. Slowly run around big empty fields. Make contact with enemies to get locked into a very long and moderately pointless puyo battle. I read dialogue that's charming, but feels more "kiddy" than usual. Dunno if it's the fan translation, but it's not holding my attention.
This is the kind of game that would be cooler on a system where the game's framerate doesn't drop to the single digits every other second.
Completely heinous product. Some of the crustiest character models I've ever seen. No discernable redeeming factors. Not even compatible with stereoscopic 3D. A complete scam, out of my sight.
All-in-one Rubiks Cube simulator/teacher/solver. Has all the grace of a powerpoint presentation.
Probably would've enjoyed this more if I had a PS2 and only this game as a kid. Instead I just see a pretty cheap Zelda clone with combat that allegedly gets more tedious the further you progress into the game.
Co-operative Bayonetta goodness that works a lot better than it has any right to. The competitive aspect feels very tacked on though. Probably my co-op bias speaking, but pick a side and stick to it, damn it.
"Wow, this is a pretty impressive port job."
"Actually, this is the original. This game was made primarily for the 3DS."
"wait what the fuck really?"

Yeah I dunno SHIT about Resident Evil. Capcom really gave it their all when it came to the 3DS though, I gotta say. Squeezed everything they could out of their MT Framework engine.
