Pretty silly nowadays, I think I wanted to play it mostly because I remember the weird online gravity that it had with horror lets players a decade ago on youtube. And it was really weird to me how wide the franchise grew, with novels and mobile ports and anime and weird live action movies.

Its got some fun ideas but the execution is amateurish, which is warranted given it came out 14 years ago. If you dont have nostalgia for it honestly skip playing and just watch a playthrough online. A proper remake one day would be cool!

Its a little stiff movement-wise, there are a few too many normal enemies, and it indulges in something that doesn't typically work with the souls formula (throwing a bunch of guys at you all at once), but for a free demo I can look past the rough edges.

Stellar Adventure RPG, one of the grandfathers of modern game design. If you aren't already acquainted with it I would highly recommend playing with a guide as it significantly smooths the experience out.

Seminal piece of gaming history. Its got a few rough rough rough difficulty spikes, and its a little too slidey for me, but I feel a lot of the complaints about its age and clunkiness are overblown.

The more times I beat Cry of Fear the better I feel about it. For a free mod of a game from 1998 Cry of Fear is stellar. I'm really hoping the unreal engine remake comes to fruition!

Cute and heartfelt if a little lacking in depth. Not a bad time at all!
