God of War Ragnarok is a game I'm really conflicted on; it had all the qualities of a great game and yet for the most part I did not enjoy it as much as I should. My two largest complaints with the game are: the story is padded out heavily, with loads of slow, boring moments and artificial game lengtheners, and also there is way too much combat, to the point where the relatively good combat system became utterly boring to me. If it weren't for the excellent final act, this would be three stars, but the ending redeemed the game for me and I think the story as a whole was excellent.
I was sick and so lay on the sofa, ate egg fried rice, and played this in its entirety over the span of 9 and a half hours. The dialogue is awful, some of the animation is immersion-breakingly poor. But the story itself is actually class, and the game held my interest for 9 and a half hours, so props to it. Game was actually great, but there are two major issues: 1) your choices are inconsequential and don't affect the ending whatsoever except the last one and 2) yeah performances suck.
