haven’t touched the handheld Castlevania titles, so I decided to start with this one! An Iga game through and through. Can’t wait to play Aria of Sorrow!
An extremely solid metroidvania! Ignored this game for a while because the trailers made it seem like more of an action platformer than a metroidvania, so if it wasn’t for the most recent PSN sale, I would’ve totally not picked this up at all!
What a way to start the year off! I went in with ridiculously high expectations because of all the praise the game was getting, and it actually managed to deliver! Incredible game.
Heard a ton about this game around when the Switch launched, it was touted as a hidden gem if I remember correctly. It was...fine? It’s fun, but very short and incredibly forgettable. Fun time-waster, I guess.
I...did not like this at all. I thought the story was extremely predictable, and found the characters extremely boring. The only positives are the art style (which comes off as a poor man’s Device 6 to be honest, but it’s still cool) and the music. Disappointed.
I mean, what is there left to say about Bayonetta that hasn’t been said already? One of the greats and a fantastic choice for my first replay of the year!
First newly-released game of the year! The game takes very heavy inspiration from VA-11 HALL-A, but I think it does a few things even better than it. Really enjoyed my time with this one!
