2008

Amazing ride, riiight up until you hit the 'tribal stage'. Literally something about the game turning into a survival and creature evolution experience, to suddenly being a civilization management game really stops a lot of the steam...

Building SPACE TRAINS as vehicles is always fun, I suppose. I like traveling the stars, too... Can we skip from the creature stage all the way to the space stage?

i felt playing the original would have been more enjoyable, and i feel the first game in the series (Also played on the 3ds) set my expectations a little too high. felt very padded out.

Wonderfully done cut-scenes and voice acting (Layton's voice is sooo~ cute <3) that totally sold and enriched the story for me! Loved the challenge provided by many of the puzzles.

fun little beat-em-up with cute art and satisfying fights, but it felt very short- 'cuz it was!

very fun, and i played the ogs! i feel some of the story changes were unnecessary or were not elaborated on like they would have been in the original titles! would love another game that continues the story with both the og and ultra's lore!

Incredible game-play, story, and characters! Very stylized, playing it's cards close to it's chest! This game feels like hearts were poured into it, and I'd 100% pay for DLC to have more escapades with these lovable dorks.

Incredibly fun game! I nearly forgot to log it, though- from how short it is. But I feel this shortness is one of it's strengths! It's a fun, condensed story that made me appreciate Luigi and Mario's funny brother dynamic more. The battling is SOOOO fun and the theme got stuck in my head.

Incredibly addicting turn-based RPG that plays back once your action is taken. The idea of being actionable and having a turn once the frames of your attack or action are complete is so captivating! I've spent hours making fun battle replays!

A DLC that breathes life into the base game, new stories and game-play emerge that offer deeper insight into the world of Rain World! It allows for more co-op and modding opportunities, and is practically inviting me to play Rain World for another 150+ hours!

It's a massive MMORPG where you can literally keep yourself busy for years. Great for spending time that I uh... don't really have? Fun for a while, though. So, so much to do. A bit overwhelming.

2022

A short, densely packed story that made me feel very small in a big world. It was over before I knew it, just like a passing occurrence with a stray. I didn't see much reason to replay it, as beautiful as it was.

Surprised me with how much I got out of it! Subversive, in a way. I filled my desktop with too many pets and image files, and it slowed down my hypnospace headband. I exploded and did not recover.

With its many upgrades, maze-like levels, focus on exploration, and easy to learn but tricky to master mechanics; I'd dare to classify this game as a 3D metroidvania... Just kidding it's still just a janky Wii platformer.

A very interesting take on a spore game, that I WISH EA did more with. The only frustrating parts are the tricky motion control sections, laughably simple and linear story, and slowdowns galore. It's fun for what it achieves! I always like to make my hero a dinosaur of some kind.

A powerful, emotionally invested story... hilarious side-stories... fun and brutal combat... completely trivial but still fun mini-games... Now THIS... Is Yakuza!

Played constantly in the past; it is now a shell of it's former self. Was once a wonderful dungeon-crawling MMO to have fun playing with friends and seeing how far you could go into the depths of the planet's core... But now? It is a corpse of a cosmetic-appaloosa!

The servers are now a ghost-town, with nostalgia heads bumbling around every now and then. Lag is an issue that got worse and worse over time, and makes difficult dungeons nigh unplayable!

The wonderful music and gorgeously stylized art direction will always have me wistfully sighing at it's past and wasted potential.
