Ok, there's only so many chopped-up women I can stomach without thinking the game has an issue. Even though they always killed one and the same person. Kinda makes it worse though.
The game has its charms with weird 2D-sequences, the OST, the sometimes funny dialogue and the weird storybooks you find in-game.
And even though the game seems to be self-aware of its own pulpiness, it's not aware of other things it did, that I really hated: sexualizing, killing, and - third time's the charm - CHOPPING UP the main female character. I get storywise why - but that story was a choice Suda51 made and that I had to play through to move on in this game.
There's too much of the old "woman dies so the man gets something to do" going on for me, which is why I didn't finish it.
Got to the last bit of the game and called it quits then.
Looking up the ending I'm glad I did.

One of the very few SMT games i would call bad. A weak set of characters, almost non existent sidecontent, a bad story with a WTF of a final boss and ending, an insane encounter rate that never ceases, and getting lost in this game is so common that i gave up after like 3 hours and started playing with a walkthrough right beside me so i would be able to progress through the game, but the combat takes the cake for the worst thing in this game, it's the most limited, mindless, boring, uninventive and shallow combat system i've ever seen, SNES beat-em-up's have a better combat system than this game, and because the encounter rate is as high as it is, it makes the whole experience of this game a living hell.
three things i have to say about this game
a. it's an awful action RPG with an extremely shallow and therefore boring combat system. the AI behind your demon partners is awful and rarely guards, with there being no command to tell them to. you're legitimately better off not using your demon, and instead just soloing and summoning a demon that has dia/diarama to heal as needed. your attacks have awful ending lag, so every time you attack, it just feels clunky and slow. there's no option to dodge, guarding is brainless and almost always nullifies damage. the game turns into an unengaging "guard until your enemy finishes attacking, then attack them" affair. it's boring.
b. it's a mediocre JRPG. i did not care about most of the characters, there's very little to do in terms of self-expression with builds because you can't learn skills, and there's a lot less creativity to be had with demon skillsets as well. demons have severely reduced skill inheritance + slots available for skills, so you're going to be stuck with the ice demon who can only use ice skills or the physical demon that only can use physical skills. the puzzles/dungeons are almost always just "do you have this specific type of demon that can do a context sensitive action? no? well too fucking bad". the plot isn't awful, but it's not as interesting as it thinks it is.
c. the random encounter theme is REALLY good. seriously. listen to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kfjqM7UqbA it fucks doesn't it

Sonic the Hedgehog (ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ Sonikku za Hejjihoggu?) is a platform video game that was made to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. It was developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It introduced the recurring character Silver the Hedgehog. It is the first Sonic game to support high definition graphics.
Due to its lack of a distinct title, the game has been referred to by a number of different aliases, most of them coined by the Sonic fandom. Its most popular alias is Sonic '06, and other aliases include Sonic 2006, Sonic: 15th Anniversary, Sonic 360 and Sonic Next-Gen.
The game faced development issues which resulted in the product being rushed. Upon its release, it was widely criticized for its numerous gameplay glitches and long loading times.
The PlayStation 3 version was available to be streamed on the PlayStation 4 and PC via the PS Now subscription service, with PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Sony Bravia Smart TV (2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 models), Sony Blu-Ray players and Samsung Smart TV support for the service being dropped in 2017. At the moment, it is only available in Japan.[3]

Game that gets a ton of shit for wrong reasons, the cast is the most consistent in the series as a whole and individually they all set a decently high bar. The ATB system coupled with the Paradigm Shift system for the battles in this game are very polished, unfortunately the main game does not really require pushing it to its limits or experimenting too far with it. The side bosses do however and going for 5 stars on all 64 missions + fighting Long Gui/Adamantoise was very fun. The crystarium is a budget sphere grid but that is a very high bar anyway, it's a fine level up system. The story itself is not too interesting on its own but when coupled with the world and characters you're in for one of the most engaging FF stories there is. Props to the graphics as well, not something I really care for in general but this game stands out and still looks amazing today.
