It has traces of being more polished and narratively interesting than its predecessors but honestly the game had the unfortunate talent of taking you out of the moment every time you possibly start to have fun. The lackluster map grew on me over time but it still doesn't compare to Kyrat, the mission/storytelling design is baffling and tedious, and any claims of the villain being sympathetic and compelling make no sense. The tone doesn't do a clear job at switching between dramatic and satirical of America. Not to mention the billion times you are forcefully captured and put into on-rails cutscenes/linear sequences that last forever and revolve around the mini-boss I don't care for rambling on to my silent protagonist (which was also an unnecessary decision).

Oh yeah, since there's only auto-save my progress got bricked/corrupted towards the end out of nowhere and I had to switch to my friend's co-op save. Great work, Ubi.

Akechi, Maruki, and Ryuji hard carry this game
