I haven't seen the sunlight or my family in days /j

I like the synthwave soundtrack even though the songs are probably stock music lol

(CHAPTER 1 REVIEW)

Banger indie horror game that is ACTUALLY really good! I found out about this game from the trailer being recommended to me on YouTube and I wanted a spooky game to play for October that isn't mascot horror. Very excited for Chapter 2 which I don't think is coming out anytime soon but it's okay :,) Also, as an animation enthusiast the pixel art animation in this game is VERY impressive and is reminiscent of an industry expert. If Pichon has not worked for any animation companies and is entirely self-taught that is highly impressive to me. New inspiration unlocked

(PS Boxers is now legally my son he doesn't deserve a "mom" like that)

I had a blast playing through this DLC and it was worth every minute I waited (since June haha) and every penny I spent! The moment I arrived on the pier the atmosphere was immaculate. Every area has interesting gimmicks (that I kinda cheesed due to having Averevoir Flight) and absorbing atmosphere (espicially the space area which brought to mind that one stage from Kirby and the Forgotten Land).

Gwen was a very intriguing character that gave off suspicious "hiding something from the player" vibes from the start. I'm not complaining, but I knew she was an Archangel from the moment I saw her. Her backstory with being conditoned by Morgante and Aleph to create the Infernal Engines out of humans was the highlight of the DLC for me. Gwenivar's design went so hard for me and my heart broke for her during the second phase of the fight due to her construcing stopping her from making more Infernal Engines as preventing her from having any friends as they all left her after The Alephgante Incident. I will gladly visit her at Brightside Pier again (well I kinda have to since I still have to find more tickets and record Umbrehella)!

Also, Joel Baylis strikes again with banger tunes ranging from the unsettling music box themes of the Pier to the guitar-shredding Infernal Engine battle themes to the melancholic piano of the second half of Gwenivar's fight. Truly a jack of all trades.

Two major complants I've seen about this DLC is that it's too short and Shelby Harvey has no vocals during the boss fights. IMO the second one is more of a QoL thing, I'm not sure if she was available to record vocals for the boss themes so maybe that's why she didn't appear. The first one was kind of expected as there was only a 4 month time frame between when this DLC was announced and when it was released, but just because it is short doesn't mean that it is bad. I feel like this DLC was a treat from Bytten Studio as part "thank you for supporting our game" and part "we haven't given up on Cassette Beasts just yet" considering that this is only the first DLC and the devs are working on multiplayer (as of when I'm posting this review).

I ADORED this game! It kept me hooked, no pun intended ;) I couldn't wait to write a review for this game! I thought I wouldn't like a game about literal fishing, but I was absorbed first though the fishing minigames and then the lore. For me, the highlights of this game are the graphics and the music. The celshaded graphics are beautiful, the sunrises in this game are stunning. I love the music too, it's so calming, and the credits and ending themes were incredible. I highly recommened this game and it's probably one of my best games of 2023 so far! I can't wait for the upcoming DLC and what new lore it may provide... :)

It's hard as frick so far and seems to be a bit grindy, but it is visually stunning and the enemies are cute...

I like the graphics, but the story seems a little barebones and I tend to struggle with the controls on Switch. I don’t think I’m going to finish this game as I don’t enjoy playing it very much. It’s a cute little game though!

Edit 6/2/23: I got good lol, kinda. Will be hard for beginners but a great game with fun mechanics and cute artstyle. Will keep coming back to this one!

Trust me, I wanted to like this game, I really did…. but I’m with everyone as it’s frustratingly difficult. I’ve done like 5 or 6 runs and I have never gotten past the boss of the first world. The difficulty ramps up astronomically after the first battle and some of the later game bosses seem nigh impossible. Until this game gets a much-needed balance update, I will have to shelf this game for now. :( However I will give it 3 stars for the gorgeous art style and fun gameplay.
