This game is seriously amazing. It was such a joy to play on release and get to experience the entire game spoiler free, it’s been a while since I’ve gotten to do that. I’m a huge fan of anything ocean related so this game had me absolutely hooked. Every area looked amazing and the enemies and bosses were all super fun, I especially loved the way they used different kinds of trash/objects in their designs, kinda reminds me of Splatoon. This was my first souls-like game, but I’ve played the official souls games made by Fromsoft, and to be perfectly honest I might have enjoyed this more than some of those. Something about the cartoony style and lightheartedness with dark undertones was really interesting, plus I love crabs too. My favourite areas were easily the Unfathom (though it’s very easy to get lost down there), and the Bleached City which gave me major Crumbling Farum Azula vibes. My favourite bosses were Pagurus, the Bleached King, and Heikea, but Inkerton was also super cool and the boss arena being a whalefall is awesome.
I don’t see this game getting beat as my game of the year, that is unless Silksong finally drops.
