This game is seriously amazing. It was such a joy to play on release and get to experience the entire game spoiler free, it’s been a while since I’ve gotten to do that. I’m a huge fan of anything ocean related so this game had me absolutely hooked. Every area looked amazing and the enemies and bosses were all super fun, I especially loved the way they used different kinds of trash/objects in their designs, kinda reminds me of Splatoon. This was my first souls-like game, but I’ve played the official souls games made by Fromsoft, and to be perfectly honest I might have enjoyed this more than some of those. Something about the cartoony style and lightheartedness with dark undertones was really interesting, plus I love crabs too. My favourite areas were easily the Unfathom (though it’s very easy to get lost down there), and the Bleached City which gave me major Crumbling Farum Azula vibes. My favourite bosses were Pagurus, the Bleached King, and Heikea, but Inkerton was also super cool and the boss arena being a whalefall is awesome.
I don’t see this game getting beat as my game of the year, that is unless Silksong finally drops.

Took a little while to get into it, I was enjoying myself but I wasn’t obsessed. Eventually just stopped playing for a month or two then decided I better finish it before starting anything else. Definitely picked up after reaching the summit and also getting the chaos blades. One thing I didn’t like is the healing system, having to run around mid battle to stomp on rocks isn’t what I’m used to. Overall a good game, might’ve convinced me to get the sequel.

I’m usually not a huge fan of co-op shooter games, especially when it’s just a bunch of normal guys shooting each other with regular guns. But fighting a bunch of alien bugs on distant planets? Hell yeah. There’s a wide variety of weapons and aerial strikes to use and working with your team is a refreshing change from majority of co-op shooters. I also have a weird bias against first person games, idk why I just prefer being able to see my character, so that’s a nice change with this game.

Usually not my kind of game, but I was too intrigued. The vast number of alien sea creatures are super interesting but god damn this game is probably the most stressful game I’ve ever played. I’m not scared of the ocean but it’s one fear I definitely understand why people have it. I would also recommend playing this game with a mouse and keyboard instead of a controller, but that’s just personal preference.

I don’t think co-op games get any better than this. Every new area is so interesting with fun mechanics for both players. It’s quite a lengthy game for one that requires 2 players, but honestly it could be twice the length and I wouldn’t mind. The story is also super nice and a great one to play with your partner.

A surprising disappointment. My favourite game is a metroidvania so I expected to enjoy this, and for a while I was somewhat enjoying it. But there are just too many problems with this game. The combat and movement is quite clunky, with no option to dash in mid air at all. I believe they also tried to implement too many Dark Souls-like mechanics. Being hit in mid air and falling over needing to get back up is not good for a metroidvania, and spike pits/falling being an instakill is such a weird choice for a 2D platformer. I will say I do like the aesthetic and lore of the game with all the dark religious imagery.

I absolutely love this game. I’m a big fan of Kirby, even though the only other game I’ve played is Kirby Triple Deluxe on the 3DS, but I was so excited to see this game get announced. Initially I was a little disappointed at the lack of copy abilities, but being able to upgrade them more than makes up for it in my opinion.

Somehow an improvement on Breath of the Wild. Almost everything was perfected (the champion abilities in BOTW are definitely better than the sage abilities). But the runes in this game are all so amazing, and the fuse weapon system is possibly the best weapon system in any game I’ve played. The final boss was also surprisingly very challenging and incredibly cinematic.

My first Zelda game and possibly the first open world game I ever played. I was absolutely hooked. I don’t think any other game has had me more addicted. The huge map has something to do at every corner, and the divine beasts are awesome spectacles. The final boss was easier than expected, however I’m sure like a lot of other people I drastically over-prepared.
