Undeniable evidence that Gearbox hates their fans 🎸

When I think of an action game with perfect combat, Dead Cells comes to mind. There's so much here for me to love, so many different styles of combat you can choose. I personally choose survival almost every time, and I always take a shield with me, but there's so many other options that work as well, and nearly every single weapon feels unique in some way.

The enemies are designed well in my opinion. In a game where playing perfectly is the actual goal, having enemies with readable and 'parry-able' attacks to fit perfectly with the fast paced gameplay.

I also love the art direction for this game. The worlds look beautiful, the models for enemies are something I haven't really seen before, and in a world where all indie copy the same style, it's nice to see a 2D indie not imitating the retro Nintendo style. The music for this game is also wonderful, and each soundtrack really fits the feel of each stage.

Dead Cells is hard, but it's rewarding. Watching the game unlock more options, weapons, cosmetics, and areas for me to explore feels great. A perfect gameplay loop for a roguelite

Kill. Die. Learn. Repeat.

Honestly I had quite a bit of fun with this game when it released. The stages had good visuals, music, and decent layouts, although some hazards could get really annoying, and certain flying enemies really got in the way of having fun.

But for a rougelite you would expect the game to have more post game content. But after unlocking almost everything, and getting the true ending, I felt I didn't really have a reason to come to this one.

But, they "recently" released a new update for the game, which added a difficulty meter in the style of Dead Cells. I think I'll come back to this eventually, but this should have been part of the base game.

There's a flavor of NES where every good game got a terrible sequel, looking at you SMB2 and Castlevania II.

This is such a bad game, not in the funny way either like Castlevania, it's just bad.

A lot of people complain about the fact that this game lacks content, I don't really think that's the real issue with this game. It brings a lot of new stuff to the table that sets itself apart from the other Animal Crossing games. Wild World lacked real holidays and I have more fun with that game. New Horizons has a lot of other problems relating to the tone, setting, and character variety, in my opinion.
Most of the villagers kinda just blend in with each other, no personality type is super distinct so most of the villagers feel generic. I also really don't like a lot of the items you get in this one, they got rid of a lot of "ugly" options from the previous games, but that left the remaining items feeling very uninspired and uncreative, like I want to have a bunch of random crap in my fake little world, I don't want my house to look too real. The setting also kinda bothers me a bit, because it's on an island, and also a lot bigger, a decent chunk of the map feels very empty.
I also miss the tone the older animal crossing games have. Villagers made fun of you, you had to work for Nook, and there were a lot of somber things hidden in the dialogue. This game really lacks the qualities of the older games.
Also side note: It was annoying having people min max AC, like no, digital characters and items should be sold on Ebay lmao.

Angry Birds but it's slightly worse because King Pig was replaced

Angry Birds but it's a certified classic

TLDR: New stuff awesome, returning stuff not so much.

Tears of the Kingdom gets so many things right, so many, from the improved dungeons, to the much more innovative abilities, but with each step forward this game takes, I couldn't but feel like the game didn't really move forward that much. While I have yet to complete it, so maybe my thoughts will change, here are my opinions on the first 40% or so.

The dungeons: Stylistically, the dungeons in this game match the classic dungeons. Each location has decent lore, and an amazing environment. The Fire Temple in particular reminded me a lot of older Zelda games. But that's all the dungeons are, they look cool, but holy hell the puzzles are way too easy to just skip. I still can't figure out how I skipped an entire section of the Fire Temple. Which sucks because my biggest complaint about BotW were the dungeons, which I was hoping would be fixed, sadly it wasn't. It's still the same find five switches. Lame. I should add that, while the dungeons don't give you cool items, the puzzles are usually environment based, like using water to clear up muck, which makes each dungeon feel a little more unique.

The bosses: Now the bosses are a subsection of dungeons, but there are also field bosses. Let me tell you, I love the new bosses so much! They aren't hard, but no boss in Zelda is crazy hard, it's just cool to not have to fight Ganon four times. The scale of the bosses is much better as well, they feel, look, and act powerful, as they effect the whole map, and not just the dungeon.

The field bosses are better this time around, for the most part. I love Gleeoks so much, easily the most satisfying thing to fight. Their music is good and they are quite the challenge. The Hinox and Talus return, and are pretty much the same as they were.

The music: The new music is so damn good, every new soundtrack sounds excellent, especially the new boss themes, like Molgera's theme is just chef's kiss but so many, and I mean so many old tracks return, and I ask myself why?? Sometimes it really feels like I'm just playing BotW which is exactly what I feared. Most environmental themes return, and so do the field boss themes, along with the horse music, they couldn't even change the track many people would be hearing the most.

I will continue to update my review as I continue completing this, I really want to love this game, there's so many amazing things about it, it just didn't capture me like I was hoping it would.

It's good to see moves from past games returning, it's really a shame that KOF 13 sacrificed so much graphics that only works with less than half the roster. But this game fixes a lot of my issues with 13 and 14. It's still upsetting that Ralf and Ryo are still pretty awful, give us their old movesets!

Look, I get it, this game is incredibly important to the history of fighting games and the competitive gaming scene as a whole, but this is a monstrosity of a game. Beating any character feels like complete luck. Everyone is cheap, the only thing that saves this from being a .5/5 is it's history. You live to fight another day Street Fighter I >:(

If there are 10,000 haters of Dhalsim I’m one of them
If there are 1,000 I’m one of them
If there are 100 I’m one of them
If there’s 1 it’s me.
If there are zero, I’m dead.

Yoga my balls dumbass

I’m a Dhalsim main

Deluxe? More like deez nuts

Having a good sense of speed and control is very important for a racing game, especially something like Mario Kart. So why does everything feel so damn slow? Previous games like Doubledash and Wii have great speed settings and control, so why is the 7th game in the series so slow??? At 150CC you feel like a slug on the hottest day of summer. Even speed boosters like the star and bullet bill feel like crap.

The roster is really odd as well, removing iconic characters like Waluigi. In his place are characters like Queen Bee (why?) and Metal Mario (Why?).

It's still Mario Kart though, and that means it's fun. Also the stages are pretty awesome, so that saves the game for me.

Mario Kart 8 has some of the most unique stages, a great OST, and a great selection of remixed retro tracks, so why does the roster feel so bland? Like half the roster is just babies and koopalings!

Pros:
+ Kirby's first real jump to 3D!
+ Unique levels that make each world feel special
+ Kirby controls nicely
+ Each copy ability feels different enough so that there's a decent variety in gameplay
+Copy ability upgrades were nice as they added an incentive to collect the coins and stars
+ Mouthful keeps the game interesting, out of all the gimmicks in modern Kirby, this is my second favorite
+ The capsules were good side collectables, adding the gacha machine was nice because I didn't have to play through the same levels over and over to get the missing statues.
+ Waddle Dee hub world is cute
+ Unforgettable OST
+ Eldritch horror final boss as always
+ Big. Rig. Kirby.
+ MORPHO KNIGHT BABY
--------
Cons:
- The amount of abilities in this game is a little underwhelming
- I would have preferred if the game was a little more open
- Needed more mid-bosses
- Meta Knight was sidelined :(

Review: Easily one of the best Kirby games out there. Mouthful mode and ability upgrades make the game standout from other Kirby games. Kirby made a very smooth jump to 3D, I just hope the next game let's us explore a little more. Absolutely loved the bosses and the story presented here, great Kirby game!
