It's raining, it's pouring, humanity is snoring.

Omori

2020

Sorry, the only “Sunny” I recognize is Sonny LoSpecchio, a true Italian American hero

Italian people when you tell them there will be Blue Shells and Mega Mushrooms at the function:

The non-binary urge to climb Mt. Ebott and never return

The fact that a 2-and-a-half-hour apple arcade exclusive mobile game by the creators of Sonic fucking Dash looks, sounds, and plays better than 75% of the sonic franchise is so fucking funny.

Normally I write pretty big reviews. I don't want to for Omori...I have never cried as hard after any videogame as I have this one :(

I can play through the whole game as Toadette. Her and a Timed High Jump badge so that I can do funny flower jumps to satisfy my need to continuously hit buttons and move around is apparently all I've ever wanted. The game is a lot of fun to move around in, complimented by some great level design. There's plenty of ideas so that gameplay doesn't get stale, and the whole ghost multiplayer thing also gives way for every level to potentially become a meaningful experience. I know exactly where I was when I met deathgrips the Mario, or how it felt to help a lost player find a hidden exit. The game has a nice sense of musicality to it as well, not just through a vibrant soundtrack but with how they play with it in a variety of levels. There's no way Rayman Origins/Legends wasn't an inspiration for this game, and I love it.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a bit short, but in a good way. It's a bit easy, but still engaging. While I have no real problem with those aspects, I think what keeps me from calling this game amazing was an ending that was equally as satisfying as what came before it. I get it's Mario, but with the rest of the game being stuffed with fun and creative surprises, I was hoping for a similar climax. The Badge Marathon in Special World does kind of make up for it, just not enough to alleviate the initial disappointment. It's about the journey and not the destination with Super Mario Bros. Wonder, I just felt that a stronger conclusive feeling would've let me give this 4 1/2 stars. Still, a very strong 4 stars is something I'm happy with.

"The game has forced soul" mf just say you don't like the game, it's fine bro. You don't always need a reason more than just not vibing with it. "Forced soul", that's the kind of thing a Regular Show villain would call something out of pretentiousness or pettiness or whatever before Mordecai and Rigby fucking kill them through cosmic bullshit. Shut up.

(Edit: Didn't realize the Badge Marathon even existed until I saw it in a YouTube video, so I went back to fully complete the game and adjusted the review accordingly. My bad!)

Talking flowers, really?

This series has been around for god knows how long and the kids who grew up with the original game on the NES are old enough now to collect social security. So why does the series continue to go for the kiddie audience instead of appealing to his actual fans, the adults? Think of how awesome a Mario game where he swears and uses mushrooms like drugs would be. Such a shame that the lazy devs don’t understand what the real fans want.

The developers could have hidden a new Star Fox game on the Game Over screen, and nobody would ever find out.

just one more race...

nvm i didn't do well enough, let's go again...

okay this is the last one i promise

nope one more
