Great setting, introduces some good modernization, and some questionable mechanics

Level design blew me away in 2008

Changed the game, revolutionary before everything copied it. Story falters in the second half

Loved the setting, probably my fav in the series. Alas, did not do enough new, and I found the story a little wanting

Good fun. Non linear story was refreshing at the time. Villains were excellent and scared you with their devotion. Gameplay didn't translate perfectly, ally characters are not too memorable

Don't remember much besides the fun fart boosting ability

I want to like it so bad. Obvious callbacks to 3 make it appealing to me, but so much else fall short, I can't call it one of my favorites

Just a classic, gameplay has not aged well

Story was lacking, but graphical fidelity, combat, and puzzles were improved around the board

Still scratching my head over the story, but vision counts for something. Gameplay is great fun and the world is altogether unique for AAA games

2017

Love this, so much is done well here. Arkane's take on atmospheric sci-fi horror is sterile and uniquely unsettling

Pure fun, every step, slide, bash, and triggerpull feels incredible. Great rougelite shooter

Really fun, slightly janky oldschool MH. Great atmosphere and one of the most original monster rosters in the series.

They reached for the stars with this one, and I'd say they almost did it.
