---Book 1---
Easily more enjoyable than FE 1, for one Marth isn't feeling selfish and sharing Mercurius this time around so that's nice, dismounting adds something to the game that gives you a reason to actually use unmounted units since they won't ever suffer the stat drops from it. Still a little easy and then Medeus is stupidly defensive and takes half damage from everything, even Falchion, it just has effective damage that's reduced, pretty dumb to be honest. At least healers actually get exp this time around though the removal of some characters is somewhat a shame, I can't belive they killed Wyrs...

---Book 2---
Okay so the actual selling point of this game is still pretty good but I'd lie if I didn't say I didn't have that a fantastic time due to been somewhat overhyped within the FE Fandom as better than the remake because it wasn't ruined by changes making parts loose impact, something that turned out to be a false, the wolfsguard don't die, they leave and never turned up again. And overall the game was actually too easy to be very engaging, you can beat every map in the game with 4 units and then on the final map because Kaga is insane and makes overpowered staves, 1 turn it thanks to dancing and a staff that refreshes everyone, including the dancer, meaning you can make 4 actions in 1 turn.

Overall I'd say that Mystery is a good game that has somewhat held up but only worth the play to see differences and for completionism, or just to mess around because of how easy the game is alongside the raw power of the starshards stat growth boosts.

I actually played this before the remake was announced, and I think because of that I had a better time than most will now.

Some of the issues of FE 1 have been addressed, you actually have a lot more reason to use units especially the three village kids since you can customise their classes yourself and overall the actual gameplay feels smoother.

Unfortunately the early maps are usually just open fields and maybe a river if the game is feeling spicy. The game also suffers in that a lot of the story is not in the game, presumably a lot is in the manual and you only really get some story content at the start of new acts and then a dump at the end. Still interesting but once again the remake has somewhat removed a reason to play this as even if you don't like any of the remake playable characters the visual downgrade on the maps sprites is very off putting.

Some of the best music produced by the NES though

Being the first entry into the series you obviously expect the game to be rather simple and bare bones when it comes to mechanics, but it's also just kinda strange, healers have to get into fights and not die to get experience and levels, not that they need any because staves are just incredibly strong either way, the low stats and growth rates mean that everyone is always at full strength when you recruit them so the only thing that matters is if they have more moevemnt to get the chapter done faster, and only have 4 songs that play for the majority of the game can start to send you a little insane.

While it's fun to look back at the start, you'll have seen everything you need to in the first 6 chapters or so, both remakes of this game make it a lot more enjoyable and make it a little redundant to play.
