2024 Beats and DNFs

Games I finished in 2024, whether I finished them or not. Probably in the order I finished them, too.

DNF - I was having fun. And then the fun stopped because I felt like I was just chaining map markers together. EVEN THE EXPLOSIONS DIDN'T HELP
Beat - Soaked up 35 hours of my life. I don't even know if this game qualifies as Conventionally Good™ but I got dopamine from it so 🤷‍♂️
DNF - "I'll do a quick replay of Resi 1 before I hit the RE2Make" said I, forgetting how hard it is to just Pick Resi 1 Back Up after 5 years
Beat - Cathartic fun right up until the last boss fell and then it was OVER
Beat - I jumped one (1) time but the atmosphere was v spooky
DNF - The 1.2 Patch dropped and I thought I'd give this another run. I don't remember the design choices pissing me off so much???
Beat - I played this damn thing for 60 hours and had fun the whole time. Having no combat and yet a present and semi-persistent threat is hard to pull off. Methodical without getting lost in minutiae. Might be my GOTY for 2024 (read: only 2024 release I play this year)
Beat - interesting mechanic but a full game of this would drive me literally insane
Beat - I'm a sucker for "chaotic neutral little bastard disturbs the peace" games and I think this Pomeranian had a Just Cause
Beat - No wonder this police station got its shit wrecked when they store keys and replacement parts at the furthest possible point away from the place they're needed smdh
Beat - Decent and well-written in a Scarfolk believable-adjacent-uncanny kinda way
DNF - Pissed me off with weird logic. I'm not psychic bro.
Beat - Fine, couldn't decide if it wanted to be goofy or poignant and suffers for it
Beat - Could definitely have been longer and harder and better but idk if the devs have it in them
Beat - It's not A Short Hike but it's fine, perhaps not really fit for the age range it presents itself to
Beat - I've play the Faraway games and if you had titled this Faraway: Botanist I would not have batted an eye
Beat - Infuriating platforming is unforgivable in a platforming game. I beat it but I'm not going to be scraping up achievements.
DNF - Such a huge departure from Kona and for why? Literally no aspect of this game is better and what is here ain't great.
Beat - Nice if a little obtuse at times.
Beat - Played the demo, had to play the full game. Lucky it hit Game Pass and saved me a few pennies.
DNF - Played one session and it's clunky as FUCK and seems to be relying on me already being au fait with its systems and lore despite me having never played it.
DNF - maybe soulslike games aren't for me because when I press DODGE I want my FUCKING character to DODGE and not STAND FUCKING STILL TANKING MAX FUCKING DAMAGE. Devs need to stop assuming I've played every soulslike game before picking theirs up.
