The photography implemented from real-life was top notch and I REALLY want to see other games attempt this visual presentation style.

In terms of gameplay, 428 ends of being a sort of puzzle where you have to make the right choices with each protagonist to get everyone to the end of the hour. Aside from the final hour, everything generally felt like a fair challenge.

Each character's POV being different subgenres with largely different tones and music was a genius move executed well. Especially going from Osawa who has a sort-of atmospheric horror surrounding a virus all the way to Tama who has a silly, comedic story of being stuck in a mascot costume. The abundance of bad endings was also amazing to see the effort put into scenes a good chunk of players won't even see.

The post-game side content gets a bit repetitive (Looking at you, Canaan sidestory) though some parts are greatly worth it, even if it's just for a bit of a chuckle.

(Review for 999 Remastered)

Played through this with friends.
Compared to the DS version:
-The graphics are nicely redone for HD
-The voice acting is REALLY GOOD
-The escape room puzzles keep their appeal even with the loss of a second screen
-The time chart being added was a big plus
-The split of Novel and Adventure modes to compensate for the loss of a second screen was awkwardly implemented.
-Without going in to too much detail, a big change at the very end was not implemented well.

Masterpiece of a DS game that utilizes the technology well. Using the touch screen to solve escape room puzzles and to split the narrator and spoken dialogue were both genius.

Narratively, this game has an amazing cast and amazing narrative. Felt like every character had a clear purpose and everything came together in the end in a satisfying way.

Only real criticism is having to play the game from the beginning for every single route. In addition, knowing how to trigger the routes that lead to the main ending were not clear and I needed Google to even have any idea.
