Shadow of the Tomb Raider at best has an identity crisis. Lara Croft's Pistols are widely recognized and well-established. Not having them doesn't seem right. There is no enemy variety with all combat facing one of two enemy's. Combat completely revolves arounds a singular stealth finishing move that has a forced camera animation. The weapons feel the same and the weapon modifications make almost every weapon identical in purpose. The singular unskippable Yaaxil midgame gore / horror dungeon was jarring. An entire zone of jump-scares, shock sounds, and pervasive carnage was unpleasant. The platforming is mindnumbing or frusterating with little inbetween. There is almost no reason to engage with the skill tree. The side quest have no real variety and offer disapointing rewards. The "open" sections are full of endless collectibles with no impact. The forced: sprinting restrictions, outfit changes, linearing swimming, linearing "chases" not only remove player agency but also make it feel like there is a lack of gameplay in the game.

At times sprining is restricted

3/5 I do not recommend.

Cassette Beats is generally a good game that takes the classic Monster Catching formula and adds a retro twist
