I know the larger Animal Crossing community says that the community started going bad with New Leaf. I started with New Leaf, so I can't confirm or deny. But, wow, it really started showing with New Horizons (looking at you, Raymond).
They sacrificed the town simulator part of Animal Crossing for even more customization, which didn't need to happen because they can coexist.

Before being overshadowed by Among Us, this game was very fun and infuriating. Wasn't a lot of variety at the beginning, though.

Edit: With Phantom Liberty on the horizon, I can probably move this game up. But I'll treat Phantom Liberty as 2077 plus that. It really can't be understated how shit this was at launch.
