theres little reason to be hyperbolic in dismantling this title but chinese rooms school of design back in the day aspired to a subversion of norms and convention. an attempt to shrug off perceived limitations and supposedly counterfeit worlds and supplant them with something more poignant, expressive. unfortunately this approach rather paradoxically furthered the artifice of their game worlds, and if it didn't hold up on release when compared to then-contemporaries like journey, it has most certainly not held up today. cannot regard a game as haunting if at every turn i feel the hand of its masters, if at every moment im confronted with its castration. pageantry

This game is constantly flipping between being a masterpiece and one of the best games I’ve ever played, and fucking infuriatingly stupid. Truly a worthy sequel.

I got my mom to call me out of school early to play this game, it was the last month of my senior year. Thanks mom.

One day I'll come back to this to fully examine why I hate this game so much, but I'll give you the funny haha short end of it:
It's an turn-based RPG for people who don't like turn-based RPGs. If you don't like turn-based RPGs, this game will be the best turn-based RPG you ever play. If you do like turn-based RPGs and look past the style, you will find a horrifically unbalanced, utterly patronizing, and thematically confused mess of a game.

Damn I look just like Principal Kobayakawa from Persona 5

Does anyone else think that persona helped cure their autism?

I played Persona 5 and I'm pretty much the main character but in real life, so I decided to try out things he did to make friends and get girlfriends.
I started by making a social link chart (like in the game) and writing down my social links. I act dangerous and mysterious like the main character and started wearing a blazer around when I'm outside (I bought a Shujin Academy pin).
I'm pretty far in my social link with girls in the apartment next door, probably 6 or 7 with both of them. I left a calling card too (like in the game) to let them know I was going to steal their hearts. (I know in the game if you date multiple people it's bad but I have until valentine's day to figure that situation out).
Discord servers are like Mementos where I can dive in and debate people until I improve the worldview of that server. That's like the public perception meter in the game and I keep track of that too. When I get 100% I think they'll give me Mod on the server.

Basically, does anyone else do this stuff? I used to struggle with making friends and only kissed a girl once (she did not like it). But after playing persona and seeing myself in the main character spot I definitely have become a lot cooler and more attractive.

Twitter, the video game.

Believe in great causes. Equality justice, in young people, in the power of words. What is great, very gostozzo

Is also homophobic, sexist, and in the end all conflicts are solved by beating the shit out of some anime villain.
Above all, the game just Copies the structure of P3 without making any real sense here, only more restrictive even.

Shin Megami Tensei V might be “Persona without the heart” for some, but for me it was the perfect tone, pacing, imagery, and distinctiveness that set itself apart from its Persona brethren. The thing is that even though I’ve finished the game, I’m not finished WITH it. The entire game is packed to the brim with detail and content that really goes to show where the five plus years of development went. From the myriad side quests and optional bosses to the soundtrack that ventures between ominous ambience and chugging guitar chords, it shows that every detail was paid mind during the development process and the end result was a truly complete game in an era where so few games feel that way. The battle system returns from classic SMT games but is revamped but the massive options available to the player through character customization and how highly customizable your demon party members are. The 3D demon models are pristine, and each with their own unique animations that add plenty of character and detail. While the post-apocalyptic setting is nothing new for the franchise, it’s approached in a fresh and interesting way that sets it apart from its predecessors. Didn’t grab every collectible Miman or finish every side quest before you finished the game? Well you’re in luck, because not only is there NG+ but multiple endings that change the way that the final act of the story plays out, with different bosses and different rewards to boot. Between all of the memorable demon interactions, turn based battles that really make you think, fantastical settings, collectibles, characters, soundtrack, visuals, story, and everything else, SMT5 is my new favorite Switch game and is a must-play for RPG lovers and Switch owners alike.

A game that should get more recognition within the horror genre in gaming. Rockstar managed to craft a hopeless atmosphere devoid of any humanity with tense gameplay from beginning to end. Sound design and stylized violence remains unmatched.

Great concept and premise, this game is very unique and probably will never see anything like it as it explores a very controversial topic.

While it hasn't aged the best, Manhunt is a glimpse of Rockstar's experimental former glory of not always dishing out gigantic ambitious open world games in favor of more focused and concise experiences.

This is the kind of game that simply can't be made today. It's shocking, gross, unpleasant, and much more. The core gameplay is basic, and not very good by modern standards, but it's enough to immerse yourself in the grittiness of the game's world.

Definitely give a try if you wan't something different and daring.

the most bizarre part is that the game itself is mostly the same as the first game, but the story ruined it by making us feel sympathetic for a character who literally went around and murder everyone, split personality or not.
