Both Beatrice the Golden Witch (she/her) and Kanon (he/him) are personas adopted by Sayo/Yasu (she/her) who is a trans woman.

She was raised as a girl following an accident that led to her genitals to be badly damaged and requiring surgery. She experienced dysphoria about not going through female puberty and a lot of her trauma and resentment led to the creation of Beatrice the Golden Witch, the series major antagonist, based on her mother and her ideal feminine appearance.
