Addictive. Very fun trying out an incredible number of 'Joker' combinations, seeing how far you can push your poker hands to hit the top scores.

Took a simple idea and added a few modifiers to make it a fresh fun time. That's how you do it.

Still as great as it ever was.

2022

It's got heart, no doubt about that. The first hour was fantastic, but once I got to a hub area and was introduced to fetch quests, I started to greatly lose interest as the frustration built.

Wished it had continued on a more linear path.

Good soundtrack but everything just felt off to me. Movement was floaty, guns lacked any punch or feedback and visuals were just a bit too muddy in my experience. I can see love has gone into the game, and I know it's an incredibly small team holding the tools, but this just wasn't for me.

2016

Imagine rebooting a game like DOOM and nailing it.

So much love has gone into making Stardew, and it shows. Probably the best farming sim out there with maximum charm and homage to the Harvest Moon series.

Wears its Rhythm Heaven influences tightly on its sleeve. Lo-fi, pastel shades and dreamy aesthetics dominate a chilled experience within its 3 hour runtime.

Wish it had been longer and more musically memorable.

This game will drip-feed you more mechanics and features than you ever thought possible in a single title. A satisfying gameplay loop of dive, catch and serve that expands without ever getting too overwhelming.

Flexes its technical muscles and punches in a quirky narrative that chops and changes with each chapter. My GOTY for 2023.

I didn't expect to be quite so invested in the lives of those targeted by The Whispering Man, but this was really well done and the majority of the voice acting was stellar. Played this with my partner and it was really fun to figure out the best course of action each time. Recommended.
