Recommend, but only for those that think they would enjoy a very old school RPG with a different system for leveling up your characters. There is no traditional experience point system in this game but rather you strengthen your characters by the various actions you take (using magic repeatedly increases your intelligence/MP, attacking monsters increases your weapon level, taking damage increases your HP, etc.). Final Fantasy II is a good trip down memory lane that introduces a few elements such as unique characters (Firion, Maria, Guy, Leon), a basic storyline about a band of rebels fighting an evil empire, and the first of recurring themes that appear again in later Final Fantasy titles (such as the Empire, Cid, and the first chocobo). The pixel remaster has a fantastic musical arrangement and I like the touches they made to the pixel art. Many role-playing gamers do not like this particular FF title because of the tedious grinding, high encounter rate, and frustrating dungeons. If you can get through it, I think in the end you will be happy to have the bragging rights of adding this to your list of finished games.
