Pretty fun at first with a cool setting and vibe. Ultimately becomes repetitive and monotonous, which is a shame because the early game is so fun.

Awful AI, sound design, and visuals. VHS fx is cool but about the only thing good I can say about this game.

Playing since April 2018 with over 2000 hours in, this game has officially broken me, I’ll play it every now and when a new chapter drops, but I don’t think i’ll ever fully play this game again. The constant state of chaos in the community with the feeling that the developers neglect that same community always disappointed me.

I spent a good 5 hours in character customization alone: planning builds, writing backstories, and even creating portraits. The humor, the combat, everything else about this game kicks ass.

This game genuinely changed my outlook on life and myself. 10/10

My favorite game of all time but definitely not the best I’ve played. The sound and visual design are beautiful and are so nostalgic to me. The story and world are unique and overall pretty decent. Without my rose-colored glasses, the dungeon-crawling and combat are very dated and highly repetitive. However, other game mechanics like the simulation building do well to freshen up gameplay. That being said, Dark Cloud has a special place in my heart thanks to its charming nature.

Amazing setting and design. My only beef is that combat became a chore and I was no longer scared by ghosts and felt more annoyed by them by the last chapter.

Simultaneously the one of the funniest and scariest games I’ve played.

Fun fact: I nearly failed my uni classes because I did not have the will to stop playing this game . The overwhelming amount of freedom the team at Larian gives players ended up in a juicy, blood-filled 500 hour campaign. I waited for Starfield for years, only to brush it off to focus on my relationship with Lae’zel. 10/10
