i think this game receives harsh reviews due to its initial price point of $60 with a 4-5 hour single player story. i do believe it should've been a DLC along side resistance, but it's not a terrible game by means. it lacks a lot of replay value that RE2 remake gave us and its shorter completion time is a deal breaker for most. which is why i waited 3 years later and got the game for $10, i do believe at most it should've been priced at $30 with resistance. sure it's a bit of a downgrade in terms of cut content from the OG, completion, puzzles, gore, replay value. it still has that charm to modern RE games and it was a genuinely good time playing it after some time passed. the combat was great, new dodge mechanic felt snappy and great to use, returning enemies now seen in the RE engine, bonus scenarios were fun and added a bit of extra content. its no RE2 remake in comparison and sure as hell not worth $60 upon release, but for sale you can catch the game for $10 and its definitely worth a try if you love the REmake series :-).

fell off of my chair from an enemy running towards me at mach 5 speed.

i'll give an honest review aside from my love for this game and its community, its easily one of my most played games ever. in 2023 this game has more than enough content and characters to have a great time. online is a bit rough since most the casuals have left and new players get intimidated or stomped on by long time veteran players. you can still find some new players around to match up with here and there. i believe it will have a proper revival once the 10th anniversary update rolls around this fall!. check it out online if you haven't heard about it, it'll for sure bring in a wave of new players by then. i recommend giving it a shot or coming back when it drops if you're interested in the online aspect!

finished the base game but on to the DLC!, never got around to ever playing this gem but i'm glad i did with this updated version. i played games like DUSK, Ion Fury, ULTRAKILL and i felt right at home. these games did take inspiration from old school games like DOOM and Quake but having the chance to play a Quake game for myself, i can see it now and it genuinely aged so well. updated visuals, sounds and effects with QoL features? give this game a shot if you're like me!

i'm genuinely enjoying it so far, game keeps me playing for hours out of time and there's never a dull moment!
