Without a doubt the scariest game in the trilogy, with so many moments that actually made my stomach drop. As much as I loved how psychological Silent Hill 2 was, there's nothing wrong with a good old traditionally scary horror game.

One of my only issues with this game is that there isn't an interesting preamble into the horror of the game, you're just kind of tossed into it with no context, and the early puzzles are weirdly obtuse, the subway section being a particularly strange example in which the solution is complicated without feeling coherent. But the latter half of the game really picks up the slack, so I can forgive those minor initial issues when faced with how amazing the rest of the game is.

Also, at first I wasn't a huge fan at the massive increase in enemy density from 1 and 2, but I learned to really love it as it adds an entirely new layer of fear to an experience where kiting around enemies was really easy previously (although once you get the katana it's basically curtains for most encounters but don't tell anyone I told you that)

Really happy that I've finally played the original trilogy tho. Might eventually try out 4 since that was the last Team Silent game, but the gameplay I've seen doesn't look super appealing, so who knows, but what a trilogy.
