Outstanding level design, themes, platforming, and style I have come to expect from Donkey Kong Country. I enjoyed Returns more since it had more levels and was a lot more challenging. I spent days on the cliff, factory, and volcano levels where no level on this game me that much trouble besides the final boss which was more tedious than it was challenging. Still loved the hell out of this and am now going to get all the KONG letters.
FINALLY BEAT THIS GODFORSAKEN GAME!
Donkey Kong Country Returns is a fantastic adventurous 2d platformer, sunk hours into this. It’s difficulty makes the completion of every level so damn satisfying, a feeling I haven’t felt since elden ring or cuphead.
Adored the art style, especially the silhouette levels. All the different settings from the fiery volcano, steaming factory, and lush jungle feel so immersive. So much heart and creativity poured into this game, i’m excited to start Tropical Freeze since I have heard its even better!

Played this through with my cousin and halfway through we were in this together. I had so much grinding this deeply rewarding game with the coolest visual’s I’ve ever seen. Each boss was so well thought out, I adore the 20’s aesthetic and vibe.
But halfway through the game I realized my cousin spent each round trying to save me and I just couldn’t cut it. I watched him slowly lose his sanity over the next 6 months as I cheered him on the sidelines. This just reached a level of difficulty that was impossible lmao but I had a blast playing and watching.

I was pretty excited for this but took awhile to actually buy it. Finally bought it and put about 10 hours into it and thought it was ugly, dry, and tedious.
A year or so later I had a pokemon fix and grinded the absolute shit out of this. Completed the National Pokedex and the DLC Pokedex’s along with legendaries. All spearheaded by my trusty Eiscue, Golduck, Darmanitan, and Meinshao. Still think its a flawed game but fuck I had fun.
I bought Violet day 1 and found it tedious, boring, and dry. Eventually my love for pokemon will take over and I’ll go ham i’m sure. If it can introduce me to a pokemon as lovely as Meinshao I welcome it.

Somehow the only next gen video game that has really excited me in 3 years while i’ve had my series x.
The only from software game i’ve played and it is so fucking tight. Every boss fight and achievement was exhilarating and so rewarding. All my friends and I played it and were so absorbed by all the lore, weapons, enemies, lands, etc. Felt like absolute nerds and it was worth it. Will always remember how beating Renala, Rahdan, Godskin Duo, The Fire Giant, etc. felt like. I would love more next gen games that utilize the open world this well where everything feels fleshed out and exciting.

Basically reunited my love for video games that had been missing for a year or so. I loved Kirby Epic Yarn as a kid and this motivated me to buy a wii to play other kirby games I played along with all my old wii / gamecube games.
The level design, visuals, cute characters, and 3d platforming was just such a dopamine injection. More complex than the kirby im used to with all the ability power ups and variety of gameplay. Loved the storyline especially the climax. Insanely psychedelic and deeply weird out of nowhere. So cinematic and epic with fakeout endings that just resulted in an even cooler and more surprising final enemy. The final few minutes had me tearing up Its really beautiful. I can’t recommend this game enough I loved it so much.
