Loved the first act and the overarching mystery of the game. The original card game is great, and when you figure out a strategy or combination it is very rewarding. The sound design also really worked for me, and I wanted to point it out as a highlight.

The second and third acts drag in the gameplay department, particularly in the third act. I do not know if this is universal, but I had amassed a strong deck by the end of the third act. I was steamrolling the last couple bosses and it just turned the end of the game into padding between story reveals.

The initial game loop, the wacky, overarching story, and the courage to totally change mechanics make this a standout title. If the card games could have remained equally enthralling throughout the three acts this would be a perfect game.

A more compelling narrative is all this game is missing, though it makes marked improvement over the storytelling of BOTW.

Aside from that, I found that this game just takes an excellent foundation and builds upon it. Better weapon customization/variability, bigger map with more puzzles, more bosses, and vehicle customization to add fun to exploration.

This is a game where you can feel the passion of the team behind it. The historical research, artistic vision, and minor gameplay and UI elements demonstrate the care the developers put into this project.

The themes of what history means and what truth means are cleverly interwoven throughout the three acts, and I felt that your decisions had subtle but important ramifications on the community. The story dragged a bit in Act 3 after the thrill of solving two mysteries in Acts 1 and 2, but the conclusion was fitting and nicely wrapped up the narrative threads.

Much more could be said about this game. The music is used sparingly, but effectively. The visual storytelling in the meal segments is effective without being overbearing (like so many video game stories are). The community's dynamics and Andreas' arc are brilliantly written. The dialogue choices can lead to bad outcomes if you do not choose your words carefully, rather than just allowing you to extract all information possible from every character like many RPGs. You can pet all the dogs and cats.

A great story told with passion. More projects like this need to exist. I hope that other teams will take note of how great this is and be inspired to take weird, niche chances on projects they truly care about.
