After all these years a lot of people have anticipated and asked for a 3d kirby game. I always thought it was unnecessary, in a bit of a conservative way. Forgotten Land not only proved me wrong, it took my words and threw it in my face, by bringing me one of the best kirby games I have ever played. It's everything a classic kirby game needs: abilities and gimmicks that interact with the levels, an easy playthrough with a more difficult challenge offered to players right after, and my favorite: collectables (the waddle dees) that are an indicator of 100%ting the game. Forgotten lands does everything kirby has done before, only now its all in the style of 3d.

This is the first Far Cry I ever played to completion, and I am genuinely surprised at how great of a game this actually is despite it's reputation. My only prior experience to this series is watching my dad play the first 2. But this game has a lot going for it.

This may be because I'm not burnt out on the current far cry formula yet, but I actually really enjoyed going around liberating bases, and getting my gear up. It was nice in a mindless fun kind of way. I mainly went around using the stealth system, and sniping people with a silencer. It felt rewarding taking out an entire base without getting caught. There is also roaming enemies that drive trucks around you can spot on the mini map. And planting c4 in their path and watching them go by before triggering them, is a dopamine kick I never knew existed. There is genuine fun to be had with this system.

The story is also really good, and each character has something that really solidifies their role in the world that they are in. To put it more plainly, the characters feel like they can be actual people, and it's something that's actually a lot harder than you think to be able to write properly. Particularly Sabal and Amita, feel like they could of been real people. Truthfully if could of (and I learned that there is a way to do this later on) when it came to the golden path sections I wouldn't have picked either of them. But that's just what makes it so good. Without spoiling things: The nuance in what they fight for is supposed to convey that there isn't a right answer, only one that YOU think does the least amount of damage or what YOU think is right. It's two factions from the same side that don't see eye to eye, and it's what makes it feel like a well done conflict. Also, Pagan Min is a very well done antagonist. He had presence, aura, and to extent charisma. A good villain will always make you feel weight any time they appear on Screen. And Min did just that, with how he ran things and the atrocities he committed through out the game.

With how people talk about 5 and 6, and Ubisoft in general, I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed this game. It has a lot of "nothing" moments to do in between main quest, but the pay off for going through it feels immense.

This is honestly one the best ways to play lego star wars by yourself. Going back and playing the previous ones, it's co-op in a way that almost demands it. Not where it's required like in "It Takes Two", but in a way where there is no fun to be had with the puzzles without it. This game can be played co-op, but the puzzles are better with or without a player 2.

The boss battles are done well, the puzzles aren't hard but are as fun as ever, it has full on dialogs instead of grunts (thank you tt games), this is the definitive way to play lego star wars in my opinion.

My one of two real complaints are that it's not as compelling to 100% it the way other lego star wars (lego games in general) are. They now have 9 movies to adapt into levels. This wouldn't really be much of an issue if cut scenes in the middle of the level can be skipped. The way you are meant to 100% a lego game is going through a level in "Free play" mode, which allows you to go through a level again with a variety of characters to swap through unlocking new parts of a map. Normally cut scenes would not play entirely in playing a level like this. But in Skywalker Saga they are still there. And even worse, unskippable at times, making the level more tedious if you so much as miss a single collectable when going through a level. I know 100%ting a game is something weird to include about in thinking of recommending a game, but that's what lego games are typically built off of. So many collectables and unlock-able characters and items, that the game encourages you to replay levels to get all of them. Sure you can play and finish all the levels, and be done. But to me that has always only been 1/4 of a full lego game.

My second issue is the DLC. The only "DLC" we get for this game are character pacts. All from spinoffs of the star wars universe. Which in theory sounds cool, until you have to pay real money to play them. And this is a given that whoever is there should be. Such as the star wars rebels pack missing Zeb and Chopper entirely. I would preferred for the DLC to be more levels than anything. More content to play in this behemoth of a star wars game, and I can understand what development times may not have allowed for that seeing as how tt games likely has other lego games to work on. But the character pack just feels so unnecessary at this point.

The game itself is definitely one of the best to play through, with many of it's gameplay elements being different from any star wars game we seen before. Blaster characters are actually useful, the puzzles while once again not hard very satisfying, The new objective system gives Lego starwars a fresh way to play, the world feels so nice with how much they open it. It's a good game for sure, and it's honestly the best way to play Lego star wars right now.
