Played this for the first time since it came out in 2007, and yes, it’s still the best. A sweeping Homeric epic that would collapse under its own weight if not for the thunderous beat of its ambitious heart. RD successfully achieves coherence and grandeur in perspective-shifting political storytelling while being a challenging tactical battle of a game, across well-varied maps, conditions, and units. It reeks of noblesse oblige without ever succumbing to apologism, because of its proletarian protagonist, who I love and never want to leave. A nice dose of theological existential crisis, as well. I mean, you literally fucking fight God The Creator. In other words, it’s got it all, even with the fucked changes to supports, that shitty plot device in Act III, and the undermining of Micaiah’s complexity and ability to lead in parts. Excellent conclusion to the Tellius duology, and has to be the greatest game ever released on the Wii.

Tl;dr: This is the one that made me a sicko.
