This would have been half a star for being the pinnacle of how badly Kojima treats women and serious subject matters like rape, but the gameplay was fun enough, so it gets an extra half a star as a treat.

the only FromSoftware game I've played that I genuinely can't stand. Between the awful map design, inconsistent game mechanics, terrible enemy design, unnecessary changes so bad they weren't carried over to following FromSoft games, I genuinely can't enjoy or recommend this to anyone unless they're a diehard Souls fan.

I really like this game and admittedly it has a lot of flaws but the game is so unabashedly itself that I loved it. However there's a lot of weird game design choices that coalesced with my 100% achievement not pinging, so in an attempt to ping an in game achievement in hopes it'd fix my Steam ones I started a new save.

There is only ONE save file slot, which the game doesn't make very clear. This means that if you want to keep your flowchart and complete save file you can't replay the game outside of just using the flowchart on your first save. All your in game achievements and collectables ARE kept (which also means you can't start from a truly fresh save either) but the flowchart itself and everything else is reset. AITSF included multiple save slots and so did previous Zero Escape Team games. This alone has made me bump my score down from about a 3 - 3 1/2 to a 2 1/2 because it's a baffling infuriating decision even if it only affects a small number of people and I wanted to inform anyone who planned on maybe starting a new game but likes keeping their 100% saves.

Edit: as a quick aside. This game feels more like the middle game in a trilogy (similar to VLR) which is the cause for a lot of my problems. If we see a third game that ties things up well (i.e. NOT a ZTD "I have complex motivations) I'll probably update my score to a 4 even but on it's own, as much as I deeply love and enjoy this game a lot of the writing problems means I can't think of it as highly as AITSF for the time being. The game is still fun and worth playing whether you might think it's a 2 or a 5 so please check it out!
