Gosh, well, I didn't like this one, I have to say. The art is kinda cute and the playable character has cool powers! There's this neat system where as you charge your main shot you cycle through elements. But I really have a hard time with the sort of "constantly running" genre of platforming/shoot 'em up combo that some of these PCE games are!

The art on this is really stinking lovely! I have to admit that I really am not like, the hugest fan of visual novels, and this was really no different, really. When I play these sorts of games I find myself just sort of like wanting to watch it. I still had fun though!
I will say that as a woman married to a woman, it's inevitable when playing older stuff, to run into stuff that makes me roll my eyes, and this game has some lesbophobia that made me go -_-

I played Popful Mail for the first time as a youngster. I was 7 in 1994 and I think I got this game a year or two later for my Sega CD. Like with more or less everything they brought stateside, Working Designs changed so much about the game to make it insanely harder than it was designed. Because of that, I obviously bounced off of it.
Playing it now 28 years later I absolutely fell in love. I played an 'Un-Working Designs' ISO that restored the difficulty back to normal but kept the voice acting and localization.
It's quite simply the most charming game ever. The gameplay is tight and fun, the voice acting is genuinely very good and very charming, and the writing is actually laugh-out-loud funny at times. The wonderful anime cutscenes are the icing on the cake. I cannot possibly recommend this game enough.

Gosh this game is just an absolute gutter-trash beat 'em up hahhaha. It is barely redeemed by the full anime cutscenes. Some of the levels are cool though--there's a neat looking train level.
If you decide to play this, here's a quick tip: your ultimate simply charges up over time, and the levels aren't timed. So in between moving the screen and getting more enemies, just stand around and do nothing and let it charge. Lather, rinse, repeat until you beat it.

Hahahaha Time Gal is barely a game! Goodness gracious. It's not just real-time reactions but I genuinely have no idea how someone would play this without save states and/or losing their sanity. The actions are genuinely impossible to predict. It's full of really charming and wonderful animations and such (even for failed reactions hahah) but if I'm honest you should just watch a Youtube video of it or something XD
