I've mentioned this in videos before but to me, there's this special aura to pre-David Production JoJo content, be it official or fan made, either because it represents a time before the cultural zeitgeist that the series would later become or because you wouldn't see some of the more experimental adaptations nowadays when everything has to be homogenized to fit in with the main adaptation. The 1998 Capcom fighter Heritage for the Future stands as a shining example of this mystic aura, through both the game itself and through fan content related to it and in particular, the legendary Road Roller Combo video and the memes surrounding it, which was many people's first exposure to the series, including myself. I'm not an expert on fighting games and the horror stories I've heard surrounding the game's community deter me from learning it on a deeper level so I'm not going to say anything about the standard fighting game gameplay beyond attacks feeling good and Pet Shop being funny. But between stuff like the overall aesthetic as exemplified by the loading screens' cool high quality manga panels, the roster's various deep cuts for characters, and the single player story mode's creative ways of representing arcs that wouldn't necessarily translate to traditional fighting game gameplay, Heritage for the Future has an undeniable charm.

If you hated DIO in the anime, never play the PS1 version of this game

This got an extra point for the Chariot Requiem reference

One of the best fighting games ever made that no one played.

this game is very bizarre??

a rare fighting game where all of the console releases kinda suck ass in some shape or form, outside of the ps1’s exclusive story mode.

Yes! Yes! Yes!
I like Jojos Bizzare Adventure a lot. It’s one of the few anime series I seriously call myself a fan of. This game thankfully is a faithful and stylish 2d fighter that will appeal to fans of the series. The presentation is fantastic going for the exact colorful and extravagant style the anime and manga is known for. Seeing Araki’s art captured in 90s fighter pixel art is just awesome.

The fighting mechanics as a whole are super fluid and fun plus the way way Stands are used is really cool. As a whole the game features the essential fighting game modes and a cool story mode.

It’s a little disappointing the characters are only from Stardust Crusaders (plus Battle Tendancy Joseph) but it does take advantage of just using part 3 by featuring most of the characters you’d want from the part along with many of the locations for stages. Also of course limiting just to one part works better for the story mode. So even if I would want some other characters from other parts it’s still cool to see how much they could have gotten out of Part 3.

Strong 4/5 NICEU NICEU

To Be Continued....

My favorite 2D fighting game. I remember being super into this game before its major modern scene sprouted up and rooting through hours-long unedited YouTube footage, some recorded off cameras from old tourneys, just to see gameplay and learn combos. This was right when I became a fan of the manga it's based on too, but I was interested even without that context. One fun memory comes from showing this game off to my friends in high school, and pulling off THE iconic Dio combo in front of them, causing everyone to get hyped.

This game is so stylish, the music is so varied and fitting for each wacky member of its roster, and the spritework & mechanics come from when Capcom was at the top of their game with 2D Spritework. This game has so so much sauce. I love playing as Hol Horse and Jotaro specifically. I love practicing and showing off combos in this game. It's so iconic and it's a great adaptation of the manga with lots of love and little nods in every frame of animation.

i laughed, i cried, but most importantly I got 2-0’d by vinesauce joel one day. awesome game

The sheer power of fabulousness and flamboyant poses.

Capcom really make this game with passion. The graphics are superb and Capcom had their sprite work at the top. The gameplay is very good, some characters can be unbalanced though, but the music is phenomenal. The story mode is great! Explaining the entire plot from the manga, a negative point is the quick time events which are very unfair when they appear. Great game, super fun, worth to play it.

to quote a totally different part and medium
"FIGHTING GOOOOLLLLDDDDD"

Quebrado, DESBALANCEADO, É UMA TRILHA SONORA ABSURDA... ISSO É JOJO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

The PS1 version of this game is a bit disappointing but the Dreamcast version goes hard. Anyone that plays Petshop or Iggy is a bitch

DIO! JOTARO. MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA! ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA!

the super story mode in the playstation version has a lot of weird silly minigames and cutscenes. play it for the most unique adaptation of stardust crusaders
