i respect people who like these games but i cannot shake the feeling that diamond and pearl are just...Platinum but worse? Platinum but Cyrus is barely there. Platinum but if it was made out of wet tissue paper. It's built on good foundation in a cool as hell region, though, so I find it hard to have too bad of a time with these games.
Maybe BDSP being wet-tissue ports of wet-tissue games just puts a bad taste in my mouth about the whole thing.

gen 4 was when i realized how much i love pokemon, so this one will always hold a special place in my heart! :) <3
this was my first pokemon game, so I'm biased as fuck hahah. The art was adorable pixelart, and the sprite of the pokemon were so cool. The music was top tier. The gameplay was just like any normal rpg/pokemon game. The after game was fun too. The minigames were lovely (secret base, underground excavation of fossils, cooking, beauty contests). The story was pretty cool! spacey/time stuff and a non-matter world. There were lots of cool cities to explore. And the pokemon had awesome designs! It was so much fun.
actually unfinished. how did game freak release this in the state its in. the groundwork for a great game is there, and is shown in platnium, but here? genuinely would not blame anyone from being turned off from pokemon at release because of this games awful optimisation. also the ai is random in this game, as in, they just select random moves. what the fuck were they thinking. i do think that the groundwork for a great game barely outshines the bad, but still, not a game im hankering to revisit
i lost this game as a kid and bought it again because i wanted to play it still

People complain about the level curve in Heart Gold & Soul Silver, but Diamond and Pearl aren't off the hook either. My team was around level 50 when I got to the Pokemon league, and Cynthia's ace was at level 67! Like, how are you supposed to level up your Pokemon that much?! I just grinded using the daycare and it was not nice.
Made a ton of long-overdue gameplay changes and handed out evolutions to those who needed it, felt like a very "corrective" generation. The campaign is just really tedious, way too many caves/mountains.

Triste como a região foi usada, porque a lore e as batalhas são minhas favoritas da franquia, mas é um ctrl c ctrl v dos jogos antigos, gamefreak como sempre errando nos mato.

This game does not hold up and every good thing about this region is thanks to Platinum. Although the harder Cynthia fight (levels wise) is missed.
El juego es sorpresivamente lento, no se si genuinamente la velocidad o el framerate es reducido, o las animaciones son mas largas, pero aqui es donde pokemon empezo a ser sin duda reiterativo a mas no poder, su unica gracia es "explorar los origenes de pokemon" si considera explorar un retcon de que ahora hay un Dios y es un Pokemon.
This has got to be the Pokémon game with the best lore, character design, Pokémon design and a top-notch soundtrack. Compared to the other games, Dawn/Lucas among the roster of playable characters secures the top spot for me. And for the League Champion, Cynthia will always be second to none. For the music, the Eterna Forest bgm will forever have a special place in my heart.
The replay value of Diamond and Pearl however sucks, because of the excruciatingly slow pacing of every battles. I strongly wouldn't recommend this to first-time players since Platinum and the Switch remakes (or should I say, remasters) now exist.

Gen 4 battle system is S L O W. Especially DP. I have no idea how I actually level grinded in this game as a kind. Pokemon designs, the region, and story were good, but if you are going to play Gen 4, Play Platinum.
