My first experience and lot of hours played on it

I tried it because I liked Kirby's Avalanche and this one was "the original" Kirby's Avalanche.

I was disappointed.

A classic puzzle game. Core gameplay is always fun.

パズルゲームの金字塔。遊びまくったし、アルルは自分の僕っ子初期衝動でございます。

Used the save state function each stage as the speed is lowered upon using a continue in the arcade version. Very cute and very challenging.

it was fun until it locked me into an unplayable speed type i never wanted in the first place

Um jogo de puzzle simples e divertido uma otima diversão pra tarde de um dia qualquer.

prazeroso

I've always prefered a game in its original form. So I always play this version over Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Kirby's Avalanche. Not to hate on the AoStH cast (well, half of them are one hit wonders who only appear on the first ep of that cartoon), but the cast here are far more colorful. And Mean Bean Machine doesn't even seem to have a protagonist. Unlike in Puyo Puyo where we're obviously using Arle for the puzzle matches. The game itself is a fun color matching combo making puzzle game. Might take time getting used to if you're more used to games like Tetris or Dr Mario. One other thing I must mention is the music in Puyo Puyo alone are all bangers.

Puyo Puyo's gameplay is pretty infamously bad, I mean there's a reason that every game after this ignores what it does. Not being able to rotate puyos after they drop in a column is notably terrible. But its got the vibes. The good feels. Its nice

The true mark of a games quality is how many times it can make you curse in anger but still making you want to have another go instead of walking away.

Haven't swore during a game this much in a long time. But that's what fighting Satan will do to you.

All stand for Puyo Day to become the next international holiday

in truth, Puyo Puyo will always make me so happy. Thank you, Puyo Puyo.

visuals are very charming and cute-looking, and it is very exciting to play to this day.. until puyos falling speed becomes uncontrollable and you find yourself unable to rotate puyos once they're in-between the columns. it is rather sad you cannot toggle it. maybe on keyboard it would be easier to control, but on gamepad i've had a hard time with this annoyance.
as for the music, satan's banger of a theme really helped me to keep my sanity while trying to beat his stage.
of course there's some major issues that have been fixed in later games, but this one started the formula and established it instantly and greatly, so i think it totally deserved a 3.5 :D

The best falling block concept since Tetris. The ability to attack your opponent with your performance added such a level of chaos to this genre that would be replicated by numerous other games in future years. It forces you to play faster to outdo your opponent and in turn it basically makes the entire concept more challenging because the better your opponent is, the more it forces you to play even faster to outperform them. I like the art style, and the silly voice acting, but I love the gameplay, it's just pure catnip to me.

i just straight up dont get the appeal

I don't know if this game gets worse after stage 2 but the skill issue is real with me. I just know that if someone asks me to play Puyo Puyo Tetris with them, I'm choosing Tetris

The mechanics and general gameplay are fine enough, but god the lack of the offset mechanic alone makes this feel damn primitive. It gets pretty hard too, the speed in later stages is absolutely ridiculous.
Just stick with the later games, I think the Sega Ages Switch port also the option of an offset I dunno.

Tsu is the better game but this still has it's charm and is a piece of Puyo history

It's a bit dated compared to the newer games i.e. no all clear, offsetting, etc. But it's a great formula and I respect the series it started

this game sucks. play puyo puyo tsu instead

This port of the arcade hit is super basic, and comes with some bizarre presentation and music that doesn't translate super well to the Famicom. It's a testament to the original that it's so fun to play over and over again.

Jogo simples e divertido porem os jogos futuros melhoraram muito em relação e ele, isso acaba fazendo que não valha a pena jogar ele a não ser que seja apenas pra conhecer melhor a franquia.

Alright, but no reason to really play this when Puyo Puyo 2 exists.

PUYO PUYOOOOOO

My favorite puzzle game franchise starts here! The first game lacks the ability to offset junk puyo and counter attack and that really limits the potential of the game since it just becomes first to 5 chain wins.

okay but why are some of these music tracks boppin IT'S LITERALLY A PUZZLE GAME WHERE YOU MATCH FUNNY GOOGLY EYED BLOBS THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO GO SO HARD WITH THE SOUNDTRACK

anyway good game, had a fun time
